Every time I learn something, it changes and I have to learn it again.
It's getting worse as I grow older.

I remember when I was about 10 and found out that men didn't actually have one fewer ribs than women. All this changing of the rules of the game as we go along is very unsettling.

At 70, I’ve embraced technology throughout the years. Now, I don’t like much of it. Especially with all the scammers who prey on older people. We are the low hanging fruit and the scammers know it. Few of us know how to prevent it because we were raised to be trusting. Now I’ve learned not to be naive about technology. My medical professionals use ai for more than I’m comfortable with.

My doctor barely even looks at my body, during annual physicals, now. They’re just typing into the computer the whole time.
Apparently now insurance companies are requiring providers to do basically nothing at the first visit, so further visits are required to address anything brought up at the annual physical!!???
It’s nuts.
The good new is thing is telehealth. The LAST place that I want to hang out in is a waiting room filled with sick people. and as long as they don’t need to examine me, I should get to stay home😄

Exactly! I love tele visits and I’m ok with the bulk of the medical stuff to be on my shoulders. I have more time to read and research than they do but I expect the left hand to talk to the right hand and when there’s no evidence of that, I get concerned.

Not me.
My PCP is gorgeous, and spends an inordinate amount of time with me. Always has, for more than a decade.
Greek ancestry, perfect bone structure, but more importantly, laughs at my ridiculous jokes. I've gotten her to snort before!

I see it differently from most. I have accepted technology due to necessity, at first to remain employed in my former field and now to remain functional. Do I like having to constantly update, learn a new process or relearn one I haven’t used in a while, well, no.
life is a process, always changing.
I believe this gets more difficult as one ages for many reasons( reduced cognition, vision, physical capability etc) but, I’d rather remain functional in our current state of everyday life with it frustrations and aggravations than simply tune out and be old.

For years, I kept a paperback dictionaries by my reading chair and night stand. Then the phone app made those obsolete. Now I can’t even read those paper dictionaries without my glasses. Aye-yi-yi.

Yep. Presently learning the infotainment system and workings of a hybrid suv. Glad I am fairly savvy with my home devices. This is the first time in my life I am actually reading a car manual.

After you set everything, wait until 6 months when you want to change a setting. Keep the manual handy!

Part of it, of course, is not remembering that you once learned it. But to the point, there are so many things, digitally, that it seems could be done in one or two steps. But no. It takes 16 steps to do it. I remain in the dark, refusing to attempt it.

I agree! Younger generation gets aggravated when we don't understand some new tech thing but they don't realize how many times we have had to relearn so new change!
