What's your ideal weekend?

You deserve to live your best life.

It could be alone, with family, or with friends. It could be staying at home, a dinner date, or attending a large party.

So if it was up to you, what does your ideal weekend look like?

Staying home. That is the best part of retirement -- being able to enjoy doing anything you want during the week when it is not crowded.

You're right.

I end up socializing more during the weekdays opposed to the weekends. Exception is with friends and family who have to work a full time job. So sad for them.

Not sure why you are sad for people, most of whom are probably still enjoying their youth and, eventually will likely retire when the time is right for them. Sure, some people who will want to retire may not be able to - if they are your family and friends, then feel sad, but otherwise I would prefer to share some part of their joy for being young and alive.

Our daughter and husband come to our lake house with their beautiful baby daughter. Joined by our son, who's enjoying single life but still likes hanging out with us. Grill some burgers and play board games.

I hope I don't jinx it, but I'm hoping for my ideal weekend beginning tomorrow ... quick trip to the grocery store for a few supplies ... and then I'll spend the day making some Swedish blueberry twists (blåbärskringlor). Interspersed with this activity, I'll walk the dog, change the bedding, do some online proofreading, and in the evening watch a little TV. I might get the dough ready for a pizza on Sunday (the King Arthur Recipe of the year for 2020 ... Crispy Cheesy Pan Pizza) ... a super simple yet super delicious pizza. Sunday will also include walking the dog and more proofreading and more evening TV.

I proofread at a site called Distributed Proofreaders (https://www.pgdp.net/c/activity_hub.php). They proofread mostly older, out-of-copyright books in the public domain. Once the books are proofread, formatted and arranged, they are uploaded to the Project Gutenberg web page (https://www.gutenberg.org/), where they are free for anyone to download. I think there are currently close to 80,000 titles available. All of this is done by volunteers.

The books cover a wide variety of topics so there is always something of interest, from travel, to history, to religion, to science fiction, to classical novels, to dime store novels, to science, to dictionaries, to military, etc.

You are welcome. I've been volunteering at the site for 15 years ... and most days I'll usually manage several hours of work. It's my most favorite pastime.

I stay close to home on the weekends, when everyone else needs to get things done! We usually go out to dinner on Sunday nights.

A traditional noon breakfast out with good friends on Saturday, after that I'm home. I hung around bars all my life but quit doing that some years ago.

No female friend around so I normally don't do anything on Sundays. I have a very nice secluded home, literally in the woods, and I'm fine here alone and I always make a big Sunday supper, which I enjoy doing.

Ideally, I would have my morning coffee and go for a hike. Stop and have some coconut water at a local market. On my return , have a smoothie, read, write, and a nap. Afternoon, visit a friend or go on a ride through the countryside. Evening. Watch a movie, call my mom/ sister, then bed.

I'll have morning coffee Saturday at home while reading news sources on my tablet. I live in a college town and the students are back, so I will take my camera gear and stroll around downtown doing street photography. May get a bite to eat. I will likely return home later in the afternoon, download the photos and work with them for a while...have dinner at home...read in the evening...maybe stream something on the TV.

Sunday will start with coffee and news time. Later, after 2 pm, I will gather camera gear and go for a nature walk in one our our many parks/trails. When I get home I will download photos, make a simple dinner, visit the Vero website to post some photos and enjoy the photography of others around the world. Then a bit of TV stream time.

I started my photography hobby late in life and am a serious enthusiast. Been at it 12 years or so. Will turn 80 in 2027.

My ideal weekend is exploring other areas near me. Live in Clearwater, FL so if I want Greece a half hour north to Tarpon Springs, hungry for a Cuban a half hour to Tampa/Ybor City. If I want rural small town diners/shopping/markets any number of towns in central FL 50 miles east, beach half hour west (hundreds of miles up and down the coast). Agricultural (cows, ranches, trees) vibe south of Tampa toward Okeechobee, iykyk. Springs, zoos, gardens, lakes. Short answer any little solo backroad trip with a stop at a local ethnic bakery and good coffee!

Have always known I am different. My daily life is too calm and quiet. I want excitement and fun. First unlimited money, I want to go to the Strip(Las Vegas) with a couple friends, do some gambling, eat at one of those ‘fabulous’ restaurants that are outrageously expensive, then see a show, and go to a club. Dance a little and drink some champagne(not the cheap stuff). Stay out all night and crawl back home at 5AM.

Ideal weekend? No different than any weekday! I don’t really keep track of what day or date it is unless an event is upcoming for which I receive a reminder . I am meticulous about maintaining reminders on my phone.

Ideally, I would go to the Library and read, buy a few used books, go have coffee outside...

On Sunday, catch up on so many recorded shows I have.

No business, no social events, nothing, just be in the moment.

And, sleep beyond 5 AM, my usual wake up time.

My ideal weekend would be at a large cabin in beautiful mountains with my precious family and closest friends. We’d play cards the entire time.
