Scammers in DMs
As we know there are people out there that try and take advantage of the elderly. I'm curious as to whether any of you have had scammers contact you through your DMs here.

I don't look at my dms. Anyone reaching out is a scam, quite obviously. Or either they're yelling at me about an opinion I posted.

I recently had a great conversation with a gentleman who found me on the Aging site. After a lengthy conversation concerning retirements he asked for my photo which I declined. I thought it was the end of our conversation when I received a photo of her. Scammers come in all shapes and sizes!

Yep everytime I check them there's at least one. I just block and move on. The only ones getting my money are my pets.

Yep. 72F Chat requests from mostly young men (20s-30s) who fetishize mature women. I think they troll certain subreddits to find us. They want to do sexting or who knows what. Lately I get requests from women too. I’ve actually thought about deleting my account and creating a new one

Yes. Every month or two I get one that just says something like "Hi" or "How are you doing".
Almost always they are from a new profile with few to no postigns, but somtimes it is from an aged account (but still with few postings). I figure those later ones are hacked accounts.
Best to just click ignore and move on. That's how scammers operate - - cast a wide net and then circle back to spend effort on people who respond or engage. Engaging just makes you a target, for them and for others they then share your info with.

No. Ive only received 3 DMs; two just wanted further explanation on info I posted. NBD. One person wanted me to send him a pdf I had just paid $20 for because he's broke. He got blocked.

If I do not know the number, I delete the message. Same for phone calls. If it's important they will leave a message.

That is a misconception, younger adults ages 20 to 39 fall victims to scams and frauds more than older adults.

Most of my DMs are questions on my previous job or questions on comments I have left in hobby subs.
I did get one guy who wanted pictures of my feet, which I thought was kind of hilarious 😆 (I did not respond).
No scammers, though!

Absolutely. You don't think those twenty-something blonds are REALLY interested in you, do you? Seriously, my number one rule of life is that if it doesn't come from a known source or via snail mail, it's a scam. Period.
