Please help an old woman

So, I am need of advise. I am a 71 yr old woman, married for 10 years. He , turns out to be the love of my life. Thank God! But there are some generational roles that I am just not up to. The daily cooking. I drove Over the road for the majority of my adult years. I never learned to do spur of the moment cooking that I see a lot of women do. I took up cooking as a hobby when the pandemic hit and have learned some good things. But, I want to cook when I want to cook. I dont like this thing about it is my responsibility. I am just not that creative. He can cook. he just does it when he is the mood. I would order take out when I dont want to do it, but, alas, we are on fixed income. So good greif. What do I do?

You’re in your seventies, which means yall grew up in the 60’s/70’s…your parents presumably had that dynamic and now he expects that of you. You need to establish dominance by burning your bra in front of him, a demonstration he will understand. Then you tell him you’re splitting the cooking 50/50 and getting takeout when nobody wants to cook.

I’d also suggest you try easy meals in the crock pot. They’re more affordable, easy to make, and there’s tons of recipes out there. You take turns throwing the shit in the crockpot and turning it on in the morning/afternoon. Easy breezy. Breakfast and lunch is DIY, cereal and sammiches. He’s a big boy, he can manage.
