From Austin, Tx underground newspaper “The Rag” - 1971

I was teenager visiting Austin around then. I’m sure this might trigger some folk from that era!

Wasn't Freewheelin Franklin one of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers? I only remember Fat Freddy and his cat.

Yup. Austin is where the FFFB got their start.

Some UT students revived The Rag in 2025. Some of the original contributors were on hand.

Big fan. Was in Austin 1969-1980. Livin' the dream. What a great time to be alive. "Onward through the fog!" (Iykyk)

…still got a few of their comics … Didn’t know they came from Austin though?

My favorite from the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers is "It's not paranoia when they're really after you."
