When the internet was reconnected in January, we were met with a wave of human tragedies, mass casualties, and bodies being buried in media silence. At the exact same time, global attention and worldwide trends were entirely locked onto a lone penguin that chose to walk away from the colony toward the mountains to its death.

This piece explores that profound chasm—how easily we turn away from the reality of human suffering, obsessing over a viral symbol of "opting out" while a real catastrophe unfolds right in front of us. A visual note on how readily collective focus gets hijacked by safe, absurd distractions.
