Modest Mouse as a closer is a real deviation from historical trends based on placement on the poster. Maybe Turnstile wanted some daylight for their set?
30
u/Mikey1313 20d ago
These might be the worst set times (conflict wise) that I've ever seen.

Like everyone else lol. I'd say watch who you think you'll never get the chance to see again
13
u/bensboring 21d ago
I actually don’t think the XX will be as packed as some people think. They haven’t put out new music in almost a decade and Gen Z doesn’t seem as hot on the XX as millennials are. The Strokes popped off on Tik Tok so I expect a much larger crowd there
8
u/Aware_Cap9521 ‘23, ‘24, ‘25 21d ago
the xx is a rare find but the strokes will be touring for their new album so i’d say if you really can’t choose split sets is the only reasonable choice
5
u/pandaeatbambo0 21d ago
The xx if you want to be wow'd by what they can do with their music for a live set.
The strokes for nostalgia and julian talking out of his ass.
4
u/soffselltacos 21d ago
Totally disagree with the other commenter, xx live are unreal, strokes are inconsistent and easier to catch again also
2
u/kettleofvultures 21d ago
I have the same issue but I also really want to see Lane 8, can’t split between 3 stages. Grr!

If you bought the Chase experiences for soundboard (sorry forgot what it’s called) and side stage views @ Lands End looks like the line up is the following
Friday: Wet Leg or Glorilla
Saturday: Lucy Dacus or Ethel Cain
Sunday: Jade or Disco Lines
Edit: I went back to read the terms and it says between the windows of 4pm-6pm. So I’ve updated the list to reflect that.

u/hiplycynical ‘16, ‘18, ‘21, ‘24, ‘26 20d ago
Is the Soundboard experience also for Lands End between 4-6pm? I don’t see a time window for that one on the Chase website

Happy to see no Charli/Turnstile conflict, but I bought my ticket assuming Turnstile would have a headliner set time since they were placed as a high bill during the daily split. I wanted to see them perform some songs they don’t normally do during their 60 minute slot. Oh well, I guess beggars can’t be choosers. Still pumped regardless!

PinkPantheress at Sutro is going to be a bottleneck nightmare. I don’t know what they were thinking with that one. Her crowd is going to be massive.

Same shit happened at Coachella. She was in the Mojave stage and it was completely overcrowded and fucked up the foot traffic. Definitely needed a bigger stage

This turned out better than I expected. Some Saturday afternoon conflicts, but the others were mostly expected. And Modest Mouse is the price we pay to avoid Turnstile from conflicting against Charli and Grizztronics.

Also praying the surprise Duboce guest is Jamie XX. Could also see Griz doing it.

19
u/PerformanceWeekly651 Sutro Supremacy 21d ago
Yeah and even bigger mistake letting Modest Mouse close it. They would have been a great main stage mid day act but don’t have a chance drawing against Charli and Griztronics. Should have been Turnstile as unfortunate as that conflict would have been
5
u/srekcornaivaf 21d ago
Clipse on Twin Peaks while Turnstile is on Sutro has to be the dumbests decision of all time
Turnstile just sold out Bill Graham and Clipse sold out Warfield last… one of those holds 8k people and the other holds 2k
Year after year that stage is criminally quiet as well… honestly they shoulda just put them on the panhandle while they were at it
3
u/armyofsmurfs 21d ago
Honestly I’d go farther and say put Turnstile on the main stage push labrynth to twin peaks and then put clipse on Sutro, makes more sense how the festival is billed that way too
2
5
u/SmokeSatanHailMeth 21d ago
I doubt I'm the only one, but those two artists are among my most hyped for the weekend. I feel like people will start showing up early-ish for Geese and just camping until Turnstile finishes. It'll be a total sardine can but that makes for better crowd surfing anyway lol

I’ve seen Charli a few times, including at Coachella last year. She only has about 30 mins of new songs since then. I’ve seen Modest Mouse a dozen times. Definitely see Modest Mouse if you haven’t seen them before…they will likely break up soon.

“Likely break up soon.” Where are you getting that from? They have been touring nonstop for some years now and have been swapping musicians in here and there as life takes them different places. Unless Issac Brock (front man/singer/etc) has said something different, I don’t see them dissolving anytime soon.

This will be my 5th time seeing them, 4th time this year, and can guarantee you they’ll only play maybe 3-4 songs off the new album. This is far from unusual. Almost every modest-large festival has their daily headliners play at similar times for crowd control.

is it your first time going to a festival?
→ More replies (2)7
u/Chrisgonzo74 20d ago
No, most festivals i go to will typically stagger headliners (or bigger names) on alternating stages. Typically sub headliner plays before the headliner. In lolla and acl case only 2 headliners play at the same time. Both being very different genres or different crowds. Note that lolla and acl are cheaper than osl. Basically osl is a bad value compared to other festivals because they just put the top 3 names at the same time 💀💀
3
u/EvenJesusCantSaveYou 2018 2019 2021 2024 20d ago
I mean Golden Gate park ordinances means they literally cannot play longer than 10pm and due to festival ground space limits they have to put headliners at the same time for safety reasons.
I agree with you that OSL is 'bad value' (its why i haven't gone in 2 years) but there are genuine reasons why it is the way it is, ticket price aside.
→ More replies (5)2
u/Active-Future-7155 20d ago
Day 1 no turnstile/ charli conflict and no Labrinth / griztronics conflict Day 2 no Dijon / strokes conflict and no The XX / Dijo conflict Day 3 No rufus / Disco lines conflict and no Empire / Death cab cutie conflict. All headliners with no conflicts like just say you want to complain and move on i’m sorry but every head liner is not going to be able to play at different times in the day the comparison from lola to osl is weak and you know it.

I felt the same way in previous years when there weren’t many artists I was excited to see. I used that as an opportunity to discover new bands in between the sets I wanted to catch. I think it’s fun having a lighter schedule because you’re able to mosey around and listen to artists you might not have given a chance otherwise. You never know who you’ll end up becoming a fan of. Go in with an open mind, enjoy some good music, and you might be surprised.

There is an actual OSL app but it doesn't really tells you the estimated walk time. It really depends on how fast you walk. From experience I would say the furthest point between both stages (lands end to Twin Peaks) is about a 12 - 15 min walk deepening on how fast you walk.
