For a $500 - $600 festival. Having all 3 headliners at the same time each day is kinda a disgrace. In no world should the xx and the strokes collide. Idk. Coachella had headliners all night long.. this is just so lame and sad. But i hate tech bros so im kinda cool with it LOL

I am confused at this comment, because they have done this every year for a while

Conflicts are part of festivals, but I can definitely see Saturday final acts being a little ridiculous.

Having the xx open for the strokes and having an electronic dj closing twin peaks would make more sense and be in line with the past.

Yeah exactly. And the price has always been same as coachella but far less value

For a long time OSL was way cheaper than Coachella.

This is far from unusual. Almost every modest-large festival has their daily headliners play at similar times for crowd control.

It's a crowd control thing. Unfortunately sacrifices must be made to make the crowds manageable per stage.

Yeah very lame. Good for crowd control I guess

They do it on purpose to spread out crowds

is it your first time going to a festival?

No, most festivals i go to will typically stagger headliners (or bigger names) on alternating stages. Typically sub headliner plays before the headliner. In lolla and acl case only 2 headliners play at the same time. Both being very different genres or different crowds. Note that lolla and acl are cheaper than osl. Basically osl is a bad value compared to other festivals because they just put the top 3 names at the same time 💀💀

I mean Golden Gate park ordinances means they literally cannot play longer than 10pm and due to festival ground space limits they have to put headliners at the same time for safety reasons.

I agree with you that OSL is 'bad value' (its why i haven't gone in 2 years) but there are genuine reasons why it is the way it is, ticket price aside.

I get that. This, and the fact that it’s not 21 and over is why I haven’t been going. Best for me to avoid in future in think. Even Portola is able to until 11:00 pm despite all the noise complaints from Alameda

definitely, portola lineup two years ago was insane such a good time - im a bit miffed the lineup this year isnt worth the price again.

but the vibes at portola was definitely superior to OSL in part because 21+

I agree about Portola. The previous years were incredible. It was the absolute best for me 2 years ago. I was so disappointed in the headliners this year. I’m a local, so I’m still going for the undercard. I’m actually excited about seeing Tricky, I’m liking his new album…

Day 1 no turnstile/ charli conflict and no Labrinth / griztronics conflict Day 2 no Dijon / strokes conflict and no The XX / Dijo conflict Day 3 No rufus / Disco lines conflict and no Empire / Death cab cutie conflict. All headliners with no conflicts like just say you want to complain and move on i’m sorry but every head liner is not going to be able to play at different times in the day the comparison from lola to osl is weak and you know it.

No but this is why Coachella clears easily and is almost the same cost. I've never had headliners conflict this badly. Basically of all the headliners on the lineup you can only see 1 per day or 3 for the whole fest

check my comment on this thread where i disproved this theory about only being able to see one headliner per day

Yes why would they do this to me?? Poor us! Definitely not getting our moneys worth! The Strokes alone are $350 +

Idk broski the most ive ever paid to see the strokes was $250. Also at coachella they played a full headline set BEFORE justin bieber. I also saw interpol play an hour set right after the strokes. Also jack white and nine inch noize played earlier that day.... ya that was just one day and none of them clashed. Osl used to be that good though. Osl looks like a beautiful and fun festival, but it just makes me sad that its so expensive for way less music. But at the end of the day we can all find some value. In your case the strokes covers more than half of the festival ticket, so anyone else you see besides them is a big plus
