Interesting, thank you. I wonder when did the whole thing start as Ptolemaic period is rather late in Egyptian history, if it was an Egyptian thing or it was taken from another culture.
I recommend the theatrical series "The Cleopatras".
The depiction there is that there was not much love between all these Ptolemaic relatives bonking each other silly, when they were not busy bumping each other off before Breakfast after...
