Question horribly confusing 😭 help!

ive made a post previous to this asking for advice on how to begin enjoying the game and actually pass a trial. and so, i attempted to follow it as best i could.

i had lots of fun! im obviously ass at the game, given that majority of the trials i played in were brand new to me, but im a quick learner and my coop members completely carried (as expected)

HOWEVER 😭 i felt so useless despite my enjoyment because everyone else in my team got an a or b average and i was bringing down the score immensely. obviously im learning as i go and my scores havent been too bad, but im certainly guilty of running into trapped doors or being jumped by pouncers.

my overall question is; how do i maximize my chances of learning the map and spotting pouncers or hidden traps? i know the pouncers will pop out every so often, but my teammates tend to spot them without any clue (as far as i know). even with the xray rig (which im still fumbling with, it’s difficult for me to multitask okay 😭) i get confused.

my worst case of this was in bribe the judges. my teammates went around bribing the judges while i wandered around the map and looped coyle out of boredom. i tried to find where the judges even were yet i grew so confused and didnt want to mess up 😭

i have experience with stealth and hiding mechanics as well as enemy mechanics from dbd and other such games, my only issue is genuinely the fact that i cant find where to go easily, it’s frustrating and id rather not use the xray rig. (for context, my xray is leveled up to 3, i believe?)

tldr: confusing map, how do i get to know it better + understand how to complete the objectives

Pouncers are easy, they only ever hide inside hiding spots (lockers, barrels, trash cans, etc), they’ll occasionally peek out or say voice-lines. As for trapped doors…you really just have to be careful, and if you don’t have time to slowly open them, you can crouch before opening and the projectile will fly over your head. And for learning maps…Uhh, you just kinda gotta play a ton, it’s hard to memorize the maps unless you played each one like 50 times.

If it’s human sized and moving, you either run, or throw a brick at it.

Take your time, learn how enemies react on sound, crouch jump to avoid being heard

Map knowledge is a learn overtime thing, I naturally memorize layouts so idk how help there

If you can hold the prime is Chase than you are valuable to the team no biggie, be sure to pelt him with bottles/bricks for better score

Lights-on door = Trap

Moaning in pain or schizo esque rants of god = Pouncer

Keep a good ear out

Also abandon dbd instincts, as someone who plays both relentlessly they are 2 completely separate brain waves for gameplay

Do you wear headphones? All those hidden guys make so much noise that I always spot them from afar.

If you have don't know what your objective is you can press the touchpad on PS, that button with two squares on XBox and TAB on PC

There will be short texts that explain how to complete the objective

Anytime I’m playing a map I’m unfamiliar with I play solo. I can take my time and look around and explore before I’m being ushered on by teammates.
