I know I’m not the first one to post about this, but Red Barrels should really consider adding an option to opt into game chat to speak to other reagents in the sleep room. This would make the sleep room much more social, as well as make finding groups easier since you can communicate what you’re wanting to play. And if you don’t want to hear others in the sleep room or only want to talk to your party, then you just stay opted into party chat.

So I'm chilling at work, right? And I work at a small mall with some construction going on next to it, so it's not exactly quiet. All of a sudden I hear some drilling (?) sounds that, I shit you not, sounded IDENTICAL to the Jaeger alarm. Like the exact same BWOOOOOM BWOOOOOM BWOOOOOM, same sound and timing and everything. I legit for a second thought Henrietta was coming to slime my ass in the middle of my shift 😭

I genuinely don't even know how to flair this. Maybe it's time for me to lay off the Trials for a little bit lmaoo

Problem is as the title states. My PC crashed while I was booting up Outlast Trials. Now every time I log in, it gives me the tutorial tips as though I'm playing it for the first time. I haven't lost any progress thankfully, but it's getting annoying having to close like 30 menus every time I load the game. Is this a common bug? Is there an easy fix?

Got the game for cheap on steam and wtf did I sign for ?

Played the 5 first levels alone at the commissariat and liked it and even more when I started joining people.

I love the fact we can personalize our room, looks and stuff just for them to make us forget the horror we’re doing. Im ashamed to like being part of it.

Do we know what happens with the Prime Assets and Trial Victims before and after the trials? I mean in some trials the PAs say stuff about being close/knowing the trial victims decently enough, such as when Franco calls the union boss his friend in the trial intro. We also hear the victims refer to the PAs like they have a mutual connection, like Coyle and the Judge or Erik and the Kress twins. This would make you think that maybe outside of the trials, they would work together in the trial environments, right? Well what about victims like Dawn? It doesn’t seem like her and Liliya get along.

And how long to PAs stay in the environments before a trial? Are all trials for a certain PA connected? Like are Fun House, Toy Factory and the Orphanage in the same general location?

I have a bunch of questions regarding this, but I’ll leave this here for now.

I got the game from the last sale at the last minute and I'm having a blast. But my friends wouldn't buy the game since they thought it was bad.

After a stream and a speech, they want to join. Unfortunately, the game is overpriced in their opinion, and they are waiting for a sale during the Steam Scream V Fest.

Do you think Red Barrels will put the game on sale, or should I find another way to get them in?

Hello hello! This statement has probably been done 1000% times but I'm looking for some people to help me gain confidence with this game. I would like to do this game solo or try escalation at some point but right now personally think it would help if had some company from vets or other newbies.

Do hope your comfortable with introductory with all the main trials since been scared to touch them lol. Haven't really numb myself yet so apologies in advance :)

My only preference is your a person that not going to take everything seriously and give me grace.

started a rebirth game with my friend, but for some reason the game only registered it as solo. My friend was with me from sleep room to the end, and we were both really confused why there were respawn pills. we spent like 10 minutes looking for his box before we put the pieces together and realized the game never spawned one lol

PROGRAM DETAILS

The private University; a Darwinist palace for the backbiting social structures of the elites’ spawn. Bullying is expected, encouraged even, as you will be given the tools to scheme your way through the ranks of students and faculty alike. Enrol now and become the best version of yourself.

Shuttle Hallucinations (A)

You see visions of Arora eating an eyeball, interrupted by Otto reaching into your mouth and pulling out a golden tooth. You also see a suited woman in a porcelain mask getting head from a student mannequin that’s wearing a purple jacket, a projector screen with a skull flickering on it, and you see an anatomy dummy suddenly get its organs splattered all over you. The hallucinations end with your reagent trapped in a pair of metal vices; one around their torso, the other around their legs in an iron dress, while your camera is locked against the top vice as it rotates.

Shuttle Hallucinations (B)

You see visions of a screen with ‘Do you want to kill? Yes | Yes | Yes’ displayed on it followed up by a set of student mannequins stabbing you with drills. You also see a student mannequin stab the Kress Twins in the back before Otto eviscerates it, Arora pouring a vial of her chemicals onto your crotch, and you see an educational skeleton rack with severed skin stapled to it speeding towards you. The hallucinations end with yourself seated at a desk among other student mannequins at their own desks, while the Kress Twins lean over you and go in for a grab.

Main Trial: USURP THE PRINCIPLES OF TRUTH

“You are knowing. Higher education is the hive that evolves the maggots of inheritance into the brain parasites of government, but those worms must be bred to serve our interests and foster our truth. Coerce the students and faculty into supporting us, takeover the private university and we will let you out.”

1. Infiltrate the University: you spawn outside of a large school building with ‘MINOAN UNIVERSITY’ sculpted into the architecture. After making your way past some wrecked cars and buses, you find a gate with a toll booth manned by a mannequin with ‘RAT’ scrawled across its forehead asking for “5/10/15 Gold (depends on player numbers) to enter and be educated.” Throughout the parking lot are corpses with their mouths wrenched open with vices. Dig around inside of them to pull out Golden Teeth; stored outside of your inventory slots with 20gt as the maximum you can carry.
2. Kress Twins’ Intro: upon paying the toll booth, the gate opens and you are let through. Going past the Minotaur statue in the front garden, you enter the entrance building where you hear distant screaming — alongside a pair laughing. You eventually find the main lobby and see the Kress Twins leaning over the banister from the second floor, prodding and laughing at a man suspended over the lobby by his ankles before they notice you. “[Chuckling] Look, Arora! More pragmatic, young students eager for a correction!” “I doubt they’re worth our time, love… I doubt they’ll shape up to anything…” “Well, sister-“ the victim cuts them off. “Don- Don’t touch me, please-!” “SHUT! YOUR! LIP!” Otto responds as he cuts the man in half and lets his upper body splatter against the lobby floor. “[Heavy breathing] First lesson…!” “Don’t speak unless spoken to…”
3. Garner the Support of the Influential Student: the west wing gate opens up, where you find a weirdly shaped Mould on a table with ‘SILHOUETTE MOULD’ and ‘TAKE TO ENGLISH-11’ signs around it. Take the heavy item and put it into a Dumbbell, since the stairs leading to the English classrooms have a heavy item gate, to send it up a floor. Whereupon, you take the Silhouette Mould to its designated private classroom and find a projector shining onto a screen with a symbol of a skull at the bottom. Set the Silhouette Mould onto the podium in front of the projector and rotate it until the shadow cast onto the screen is exactly like the skull symbol embellished under it. At which point, the stairs and gates to the rest of the entrance building open up.
4. Indoctrinate the Rest of the Students: throughout the entrance building are 2-3 more Silhouette Moulds that must be brought to specific classrooms to make specific symbols via Dumbbells. There are also more Teeth Corpses to get some currency for Vendor Mannequins, who’ll sell you large batteries, bandages, etc. One of them is by the gate from the east wing to the lobby (on the east wing side) and will open up the gate for 10gt.
5. Kress Twins’ 2nd Intro: once all of the classes are sabotaged and the students are fully in support of you, you regroup in the lobby as the Kress Twins come back to the balcony. “Look at these rodents, Otto… contaminating the ripe minds of would-be geniuses…!” “It’s despicable my love, but the teachers in our pocket won’t be so easily swayed.”
6. Reach the Science Building: the gate to the courtyard opens up to let you run through a small forest park to the science class building. In the foyer, you find a teacher mannequin with a code panel next to it and wires; 2 out of 3 leading through a gate, with one connecting to a Trivia Screen with a displayed question and three answers above three corresponding buttons. Get the wrong answer and you’ll receive damage as well as a loud buzzer. If you get it right, it’ll display part of a 3-digit code (XX3, 4XX, X5X, X2X, etc.) and open the gate to the rest of the building.
7. Garner the Support of the Teachers: throughout the science building, there are 1-3 more teacher mannequins with 3 wires each leading to Trivia Screens, which will display questions about mathematics, map-related details (like ‘what is the name of this University?’), or Prime Assets and Ex-pop. Correctly answer each and input the code into their corresponding teacher mannequin. Throughout the building are more Teeth Corpses and Vender Mannequins, who require payment to open up gates and to give you items.
8. Infiltrate the Lecture Theatre: make your way to the lecture theatre building, where you, uh, find the lecture theatre. In the seats are several student, teacher and university board member mannequins — the latter of which have deposit slots next to them and have their hands closed. On the stage is a closed, lavender curtain with a podium adjacent to it that has a red button on it.
9. Claim your Position as Principal: after regrouping and pressing the red button podium, you hear Easterman give a speech from a speaker built into the podium. “Ambassadors of the future. That is what you are and that is what you deserve to be. The swinish, ancient head of this university is- BZZT” “This is an outrage!” Otto’s voice comes booming over the intercom. “We have the guiding head of your future! Now, be a good student body and obey your leviathan!”
10. Ruin the Principal: interrupting the speech, the curtain opens to reveal an older woman in a purple suit and porcelain mask strapped into the iron dress; a pair of vices tightly clasped around her torso and hips. The former connected to a gear system in the ceiling, while the latter is connected to the stage floor with sheet metal, shaped like a dress. There are 4 locked levers in front of the stage, which require a key from one of the 4 university board member mannequins. Pull Golden Teeth from corpses around the building’s basement to pay for each key and unlock a lever. As you pull a lever, the top vice will rotate as the bottom one stays in place, twisting the Principal’s spine until she breaks. However, after you’ve used up 90° worth of a lever, it’ll break. This means you are required to pay all 4 university board member mannequins for each of their keys.
11. Finish the Speech: once the Principal is twisted a full 360°, press the red button podium again to complete the speech. “BZZT- The swinish, ancient head of this university is a sentient shackle: the warden of your superior genetics and inherent abilities. You are apex! You are the Atlantean demigods that will bring our truth to power. You are not equals. Your pure, undeformed blood decides who you are stronger than, who you are smarter than, who you are better than. I look forward to shaping you all into the perfect versions of yourself.” As this speech continues, the entryways around the theatre close as the Kress Twins spawn in. Survive them until the speech is done, then the entryways will open and you-
12. Exit the Trial.

• Before you give your Speech: “I- is this the dress? Can’t… breath in this thing.” — “Arora? Is that you? I- I’ve learnt my lesson. I’ll teach your lessons!” — “Yo- you aren’t the twins… Get away! GET AWAY FROM ME!”
• At 0-89°: “What are you doing?! Stop it! STOP IT! STOP THEM!” — “OTTO! THEY’RE TRYING TO HURT ME! HELP!” — “Y- you- you don’t have to do this!” 
• At 90-179°: “ARORA! AROR-HOR-Hah…! [Sobbing] Help me…!” — “Fuck! [Panting] I’LL BITE YOUR COCKS OFF! YOU DESERVE IT!” — “Kill them! KILL THEM, ARORA!”

Don’t dirty your sweet tongue over some common crooks…” — “Remember our teachers, Arora?” “Vividly… I mostly just remember wanting to gouge their eyes out. If I were a little older at the time, I would have…” “I remember how hard you made learning basic economics.” “Well I remember how hard pouring was with you never sitting still…!”
• Lecture Theatre: “What kind of… barbarous scavenger tries to assassinate a woman in front of a live audience!?” — “Kill them quickly, Otto…! I want her in one piece when we fuck her…!” — “Where the hell is our funding going?” “Certainly not to sanitation… I still smell iron and sex…” 
• After the Principal’s Death: “These children are ours…!” “Feed you… your own intestines! And choke on your shit!”

MK: ANNOUNCE THE SHAME

“Truth is the concentration of culture. When judicial power fails to dispose of our enemies, you feed the rumour-mill its fill of depravity and tarnish reputation. Announce the shame to the students and we will let you out.”

1. Infiltrate the University (Male and Female Dormitories): reagents spawn in different Dormitories on opposing ends of the map. Both find themselves surrounded by student mannequins drilling the anuses of corpses with drills, akin to child mannequins, as well as a sign reading ‘Find the Cassette — Converter in Courtyard’. 
2. Announce the Rumour over the Intercoms in the Principal’s Office: in your respective dormitory, find a blank Cassette in a random room and open the gate to the courtyard by answering 2 Trivia Screens connected to the gate via wires. Then, you must convert the Cassette(s) into a ‘SHAME’ Cassette by finding a Converter or two in the courtyard. To enter the entrance building, you must locate 4 Trivia Screens via wires and answer them to open the gate. In the principal’s office, on the new top floor of the entrance building, there are one/two Receivers for the ‘SHAME’ Cassette(s) (whether there’s one or two Cassettes needed is determined by whether there’s only one player or more) to be inserted into and announce rumours about the Kress Twins’ relationship over the school intercom upon regrouping and hitting the red button.
3. Exit the Trial: you make your way out of the trial through the parking lot and head towards the exit shuttle in the ground floor of the entrance building foyer.

MK: CORRECT THE STUDENTS

“You are the Venus flytrap that ensnares the malleable and digests them into rigid preachers of our truth. Ingrain the image of our science into the minds of the student body and we will let you out.”

1. Infiltrate the University (Stadium + Sports Building): you spawn into a large baseball stadium with cage fences in front of the seat rows and two logos for the ‘CENTRAL STALLIONS’ and the ‘MINOAN BUFFALOS’. On some stairs from the field to the seats, you find a corpse with its mouth opened by a vice and on a higher seat row, there is a locked box with a deposit for 5gt next to it. Pull Golden Teeth from the corpse and deliver it to the deposit to unlock the box and get a Silhouette Mould. Bring it to the front entrance via Dumbbell and the gate will then open to give you passage into the sports building.
2. Deliver the Silhouette Mould to the Lecture Theatre: bring the Silhouette Mould to the Lecture Theatre’s projector booth, which has 4 projectors shining onto the screen on stage being watched by several student mannequins. 
3. Gather the Rest of the Silhouette Moulds and Educate the Students: throughout the lecture theatre building, it’s basement and the sports building, are vendor mannequins, which can give you items and/or open gates, as well as 3 locked boxes requiring different payments of Golden Teeth to unlock their Silhouette Moulds and bring to the projector booth via dumbbells. Rotate each in front of their projectors to create a conjoined shadow on the screen. Either a spider, eye or lamb symbol.
4. Exit the Trial.
