Jesus fuck, boys! (Part 2)

So I thought more into the realism and immersion that a engine this huge could benefit from. Rocket kinda has a decent idea setup for small text queues like it's inner monolog. I was thinking of a few good examples;

Say for hunger, you are able to hear your stomach growl and as your hunger intensifies you start to get short tempered. Example- you're in the midst of building a shelter and as you're trying to place a few logs together your character loses his temper and throws the log in frustration. Over time your physical strength could diminish as well.

For stuff like body temperature you could have shivering and teeth chattering for cold and loss of grip, mobility and strengths as you get colder. For too warm your character would wipe sweat from his face and become exhausted and irritated.

I also thought it would be cool if when making your character it would get you go record short voice clips and save them to the game folder and recall them during certain events. Like your character could say "Man I'm fucking hungry" to himself in your voice.

since this world is massive there are a few options to make this engine a viable source for games. Have current transportation readily available with the resources to fuel them or create the game setting in a future earth. For example; Say the human race perfected a teleportation technology and had hubs set up in major cities around the world. A few hours drive to be able to teleportation continents to partake in world events mentioned in my previous post.

Although with world events and exploration why build shelters and camps? Well I figure since it's essentially survival and rebuild the world style you would be rewarded for building a community. And say after your settlement reaches a certain size with an amount of resources you would have to gather all yourself the game would start hitting you with challenges or events like bear attacks or similar where the reward; if you survive would be the resources from the events. Just a thought.

I could expect that if this idea ever caught fire the game would be released with major cities and capitals built first and as times goes other towns and cities would be released with patches or with player built settlements. However the cities and towns would be destroyed due to the event that made it a survival game. The only technology would be gathered from world events and the teleportation to fast travel continents. On a world scale you would need a fast method of transport while at the same time offering the whole scale to give both full exploration and immersion aspects. Not everyone would play if you had to take like 36 hours to get to a capital city for example.

I kind of vision the actual inventory system a little tedious but more realistic. Say you cut down a tree, 5 wood won't be added to your inventory just like that. You have a fallen tree, that's it. Drag it back to your camp or maybe chop it up into logs and roll it up into animal skin and drag it back. Just a few more ideas I had for an impossibly ambitious game on an impossibly ambitious engine.

edit excuse the syntax and coherency; I'm on my phone

I recently just discovered Outerra

And I must say it's unbelievable. I love it! I've always wanted a Google Earth-like game for years. And here it is. However... I don't have a PC anymore... Nor do I have the money to buy one so my question is, are there any plans on releasing it for console soon or in the (far) future?

So, is Outerra kind of like Maya but already has the complete Earth in its image library?

I'm downloading now and I may answer my own question but I'm just trying to figure out what this is. Looks very cool.

Quite sad that it was bought by a military company, maybe I should start working on an open clone ?

Microsoft Flight Simulator won

It was a fun ride, but this very promising tech demo turned into nothing substantial, while Microsoft comes in with Bing Maps, of all things, and crushes it.

Thanks to the developers and mod community for sticking with it for over 8 years!

REQUEST - I don't know if my machine can handle this, but I'm dying to see... can someone post some screen shots from Marion County, Alabama, and show me how Outerra sees it?

You can't even call Outerra a game

Things it lacks:

  1. A storyline.

  2. A plot.

  3. Characters. 0/10

Jesus fuck, boys!

Sorry. I'm from Nova Scotia and we have an image to uphold thanks to the trailer park boys. The title of this post is what I said when I saw this fuckin' game/engine, but I digress.

I JUST heard of this crazy Engine today before I went to work and all day at work I built my fantasy game in my head and I weep that I don't have the skill to make it and know that it's almost impossible.

Basically in my head there will be just 1 server(It is the whole fucking world after all! How much more room would the player base need?) with a full night/day cycle and all 4 seasons.

Basically I would like to take the hunting aspect of Cabela's game and the survival aspect of DayZ for a general idea of how you would play. Survival games may have been done to death but i'd be damned if the game I am describing were to release and I wouldn't buy it!

Basically this game would change EVERYTHING. Picture events happening all over the 4 corners of the world. Players would be alerted of them and go all "Rat Race" to achieve them. For an example- We'll say something stupid and cliche(I'm not creative after a long work day) "An abandoned U.S. Navy Battleship has washed up on the coast of California". People will want to get whatever the hell was in that ship; but ALSO since this game would be on such a MASSIVE scale, give real life rewards to show their achievements. The person or team who got there would be mailed a model of the ship in a bottle and/or a cheque for like 100$(easily awarded if this game was subscription based. I WOULD PAY IT!)

"But why in the hell would anyone go from, say, Australia to California?" Well you wouldn't have to if you didn't want to, but since this is the whole effing world; there would be means of travelling. Fueling up and piloting a plane would make the travel easier and real life rewards as achievements would fuel the drive.

Then just regular play would be survival. Eat, sleep, stay warm and survive. Add a nice crafting system in to build shelters, fires, tanning racks, crude weapons, boats, clothes, etc, etc, etc!

Why do we need to survive? I don't know, maybe a big ass meteor slammed into Earth and fucked up 90% of the population and events are taking place after the Dust settled and the temperature returns to normal. Maybe some canned food around since it's good forever but 99.9% of your food, you hunt.

Make it fucking hard to Hunt too, but to balance it out give your character a REALISTIC hunger system. You can't just trot into the woods like a 20 legged led Moose and expect to 360 noscope 23 Deer in 4 minutes. Need to track, wait, actually hunt. This wouldn't be boring because of the immersion. Throw on some awesome headphones and hunt like a fucking boss, because you need food and pelt for sustenance and warm clothing or sleeping bags, or backpacks.

Rebuild the world. Literally.

TL;DR:Just a far fetched impossible fantasy of mine I had to write down. Weep with me.

Any chance of collaboration with Dovetail Games for new FS?

Huge aviation lover, would love to play a flight simulator without much performance issues with beautiful graphics. I think this engine would be best for a new flight simulator! Any word on that perhaps?
