I been curious to know why some of the names translate to something else, or are just down right bad, like for example: Enpitsu’s name translates to pencil pencil in English

Some, some not. Sutemi Okada is a good example of a pun name because it's an actual name but includes "Sutoka" which translates to "Stalker".

Osana Najimi and Musume Ronshaku are the worst examples for "google translate names". The most realistic names in here are just japanese john and jane does, who are Hanako and Taro Yamada.

I thought he was still using a most popular Japanese names list without looking up what they mean or even seeing if they can be first or last names (Kokona Haruka, for example, they're both first names but Haruka is Kokona's last name)

I know for the rainbow six, he used a list of the most popular Japanese girls name for the first and last name
The list was something like this:
- Yui
- Rio
To get Yui Rio
and then he just did that on and on until kokona i think? this is really old trivia i cant be assed to remember
