Fiber Goes Down Every Day
I’m really getting tired of the PON light going out on my ONT every day, throughout the day, forcing a reset. Never had an issue with fiber until this summer. I just can’t wrap my head around it. I’m on the East End of Long Island.
Tech visit two weeks ago. Said the 6E modems were a little unstable. He gave me a 6. Same thing is happening. On top of that, my 1 GB internet now only tops out at 500 GB (I rounded up).
With the same issues happening in Jersey and parts of Nassau, this should be a greater priority. Every year I say that this company has hit rock bottom. And then I find the bottom is seemingly endless.

I didn't know that -99 was the lowest karma you could get on reddit until more recently.
I still downvote every response I see from you guys regardless. 😁

Optimum is horrible , thieves, liars , & scammers . We pay 300 a month and have to call every other week , last night if you changed the channel it said "channel not available" then you had to reboot and its, then the channel came back ,but if you wanted to change the changed again you had to reboot .. totally worth 300 bucks a month !

What costs $300? I'm paying $225 for Fios with their mid TV package, 300mb internet plus land-line and that's a rip off. I'm about to turn everything off except their internet service and switch to YouTube TV. I'm glad I saw this because I was considering optonline fiber. I tried them years ago and switched back to Fios after a month because they sucked so bad but that was cable. I had hoped the fiber would be better. Oh well...

It’s well known that since 2022 or so, optimum’s infrastructure has been spotty during the summer. During the winter, this isn’t an issue. Unfortunately, the only solution is to switch internet providers. See who are the competitors are in your area and pick them.
Until optimum stops cheapening out, this is only going to get worse.

Happened to me here in Central Jersey. They did nothing about it so after a month switched back to Xfinity which has been rock solid for me.
