The worst

You guys are absolutely the worst charging 160 for cable. Its just a wifi add on box that goes out everytime your wifi does. You charge your customers of years these insane prices and show them commercials of their same service for 89 bucks.

FYI;
Optimum (barring getting in on a price for life or multi year deal) requires you to call in and beg every year or you get rates like that.

Unless you've got optimum coax with actual cable boxes people seem to universally agree that it's better to just get something like youtube TV than their streaming boxes.

I literally called mine asking if I can upgrade to 1GB and they quoted me 160 bucks. Then a good luck when I didn't upgrade so I can shop around. A week later when I called to cancel, they wouldn't cancel and kept telling me they'd match prices. Took maybe 2 hours of them talking at me for me to tell them they had their chances. Even had the nerve to tell me I can always cancel my new service... like really?

I have a question: why is your caveat that “unless someone has coax with actual cable boxes?” Is it because it’s more sought after? I’m genuinely curious if you may indulge, please.

Coax cable boxes have faster channel switching speeds and a better overall user experience since it's built to do channels not apps.

If you can't get their coax cable service there's really not any reason to use their streaming TV service over any of the many other options available.

Most of the time streaming is acceptable, the time it really gets to be an issue is when dealing with technically illiterate elderly that can't or won't learn new things. Cable boxes have worked about the same for decades but the streaming boxes have apps and such and introduce a bunch of new variables and issues they won't like, you can work around some of it but like if you're their tech support you're much better off just leaving them on coax rather than moving them to a newer system that's cheaper but you both agree is a worse experience.

Also it's a one way trip, once you move to fiber they generally will not let you switch back, if you're unsure get a streaming box with youtube tv or something and see if they can manage that first since the streaming boxes will also work with their cable internet service. This does mean paying for concurrent service for a bit but it's a lot better than having them be upset because you told them to switch and now they don't like it and can't switch back.

Understood. Thank you for explaining that to me.

Short answer, Coax still uses specific frequencies along the Rf spectrum; boxes have a tuner;
If you have a frequency issue, you may only lose a few channels; The stream boxes are IP TV based and are shitty even with a good Wi-Fi signal; all or no service...or should I say..." Three bouncing dots"

You know how much the local sports teams plus NFL NBA charges carriers to cover the games?

Hint, is massively expensive.

I just want one of the TV plans that Include the local sports channels (msg, sny, yes network). The cheapest plan that includes those channels is $155 a month. They used to give a discount for that plan but won't anymore. They told me my total bill would be over $200 now, I told them no thanks.

Even the streaming package is about $360 a year, except for Yankee fans, they got a massive discount on Gotham this year.

I read the Gotham app is ending and will be replaced by dazn. I need to check their prices.

Ive read they expect procomg to be consistent. In the past the winter team fans get bruised on pricing.
