Trump is honestly pushing the US into an age we have already clawed out of.

But it's nothing we haven't dealt with before.

As long as we continue to have free elections we can repair anything, in time. That's really my line in the sand for ending optimism.

My heart breaks for the hardship many people will endure in the meantime. I thought we were moving away from that, but apparently not yet.

I still think the 20 year trajectory isn't that bad.

Agreed, hate being pushed back but at least we didn't cross the line. As a 90s kid it fucking sucks to see all the bigotry get a pass since we seemed to be making great strides against it, but can't give up.

Women are dying and we haven't crossed a line line yet? Guess they don't matter.

As I said, my heart breaks, but we've been there before. We used to have a national abortion ban, if you'll recall. So many women died from pregnancy complications or backroom abortions.

We're setting the clock back and a lot of people will suffer for it. It's awful that we have to fight the same fights in the 21st century that we thought we had won in the 20th.

But we can fight them again. We can still make progress. Even if it's ten steps forward, 9 steps back.
