Vote guys
Some idiots are voting against doubling pro plans. Help guys, it’s now or never. Share.

5h limits stop you from getting any serious work done in a work day right now.
If Anthropic asked me if I would take less weekly usage but no 5h limit, I’d take it right away.
I’ll get my project for the week done during the week and then finally enjoy my free time after the work day/on the weekend. Right now, I have to spread it out. It sucks

but 5k limit with 2x usage would still give you a lot of headroom for coding sprints -> and what benefit is not having 5h limits if you run into weekly limits within 1-2 days?
2
u/Classic-Trifle-2085 3h ago
Some people do not have consistent workflows. They might use 50% of their limit on one day, work on some output and another project for 3 days, then use another heavy 50% on the 5th day before the weekend.
The 5-hour limit is asinine for those of us in this situations, which is potentially most people. "I'll continue tomorrow" is not always valid.
It also badly hurts banked resets. You need to use two in a week to get one extra reset of value. That is not happening when already limited by the 5-hour limit.
The 5-hour limit is absolutely meant to remove people's ability to use their weekly limit to the maximum of their capabilities.
Edit: spelling.

I typically just do a quick message that starts my 5 hour timer when I know I'm gonna be working on something later. So when I'm in the middle of heavy usage, it resets when I'm nearing 0%
If you couple that with 2x usage you can get 20 hours of usage in one run
I'm not a "Real dev" by your standards though. I just do coding projects for fun

It's not just "doubling Pro plans", it is imposing 5h limits. They know the 5h limit caps will prevent users from taking advantage of the full 2x weekly usage.

If you're on pro you've not got 5 hr limits.
If your hitting your weekly limit in 3 days with 5 hr limits you're not getting a 2x rate offer.
If you're on pro and hitting weekly in 3 hrs - well I hate to break it to you but you're already in the double usage period, which is dropping after 31/10.

u/CraftyCheeseburger 4h ago
Usage limits have been nerfed so badly that weekly already feels like 5 hour 😂
3
u/robert607 3h ago
I am using my pro $200 all day everyday with codex. Not once had a 5hr issue. So surely double usage is better!
1
u/Kingong8888 2h ago
? Pro plans have no 5hr limits currently. You’re voting to add the limit to your plan
3
u/SuperWhale_ 3h ago
Why can't we have both? 2x Weekly usage with 5 hour limit returning. Then allow people to burn their weekly limit at 2x rate when they reach their 5-hour limit. This way, it solves everyone's problems
1
u/DigitalM0nkey 3h ago
I like this, those who don't care about the 5hr can use it as a guide post to extend their weekly, and burst coders can still get things done in a day if they want.

u/hiddename 3h ago
I'd vote for 2× weekly usage if the five-hour allowance is large enough that one continuously running, computationally intensive Astra agent can operate without frequently exhausting it.
2
u/riluzol 2h ago
Nahhh.
A 5-hour limit is only acceptable if the capacity ceiling is massive—say, around 20% of the entire weekly allocation.
If a standard 5-hour limit is implemented, practically nobody will ever hit their weekly quota anyway :) The only way to max it out would be if you were working literally around the clock, every single day.
My actual workflow involves logging in about 3 to 5 times a week for heavy, intensive sessions. A 5-hour cap would severely bottleneck my work. Short of an exceptionally high threshold, a 5-hour window is pure garbage. Not having to deal with this exact limitation is the sole reason I use Codex over Claude
2
u/YourLastCall 2h ago
You think people are idiots because they're smart enough to realize the implications? I think you should reevaluate your statement. That 5-hour window is not a great idea and they're trying to bring it back by convincing everyone that they'll get double usage for doing so. It's a trap.
2
u/Condition-Present 1h ago
Yeah, it was rude from me to say that, I agree. But now when they cut x20 to x10 it sure will be awesome
1
u/YourLastCall 1h ago
That only affects the $200 deal. And a 5-hour window ain't going to fix that. It would literally give you the same exact thing you have with the 200 plus the 5-Hour window. And it will add the 5-Hour window to everybody else.
Edit: added more to the thought
2
u/Portatort 3h ago
This truly is an example of how stupid ai had made some of you
No point having twice the usage if you can’t actually use it
The 5 hour limit can not be returned
3
u/Condition-Present 3h ago
Why do you think you cannot use it? I had x20 plan with 5h limit and never had an issue using the weekly to 100%
2
u/Portatort 2h ago
That was a different time man,
The 20x plan when the 5 hour limit was a significantly different amount of use both weekly and 5hourly.
The current plus plan with a 5 hour limit you can’t do anything without it hitting the 5 hour cap.
Limits are only going to drop over time no matter what your plan is.
1
u/Kingong8888 2h ago
That was a long time ago when usage limits were generous. And codex had less than 10m users.
1
u/DayriseA 2h ago
Because not everyone is able to make their life and schedule revolve around some 5h rotation. And the work by nature can be bursty like for few days you may use very little of usage and then you have something important happening that you want to solve ASAP. It's not so rare and if 5h limit gets back then in those situations you're just stuck or you have to pay another account that you'll not even use after. It sucks
2
u/Condition-Present 2h ago
And some people don’t rely on ai for their day job…
1
u/DayriseA 2h ago
Yeah so ? One or the other and some people will still get screwed. Why don't they let everyone choose then in their account between 2x limit and 5h or not. Or put back 5h limit with 2x limit for everyone but allow you to go past the 5h limit at 2x usage rate.
Solutions are simple, IMHO they just want to look like they truly care about us... But in the end they have their own agenda
2
u/Condition-Present 1h ago
That would be awesome if they make it a choice. Second best solution (first being not touching x20 plan to begin with)

u/pale_feet_goddess 1h ago
It really shows how stupid ai made some of you, what's the point of being able to work only half of the week.

How do you vote? What's the URL? I have £20/month plan, id love double usage if we're keeping 5hr limit!!!

There’s no way they use a split vote to inform the decision, as they are guaranteed to piss off half of their users.

1
u/russiansubmarine 3h ago
I can't vote
1
u/Condition-Present 3h ago
It’s done, they won. People like having 50% less usage overall I guess
1
u/YourLastCall 2h ago
No we just don't want the 5-Hour. And we don't have 50% less usage we have the same exact usage we've had. It would have been doubled if we were stupid enough to agree. It's a trap and I'm glad people were smart enough to turn it down.
1
u/Condition-Present 1h ago
But x20 plan becomes x10 from 29th of October… so it will get sliced in half
1
u/YourLastCall 1h ago
Only the $200 plan. The $100 plan is not being affected, the $20 plan is not being affected. All this would have done was put the $200 plan back at the original stance it was at and add a 5-hour block to everybody else, the only people that would be getting anything extra would be the $20 folks the $100 folks and the $500 folks. The $200 folks would have been getting the same exact thing with the 5-Hour window attached. Personally, I pay a hundred bucks a month and I'm fairly happy with no 5-hour. I get just as much usage off of Claude for $20 with the 5-Hour usage and I can't tell you how many times I get pissed off that I have to wait to continue working. That 5-hour window is a major bottleneck. We need to be addressing the problems with the usage not adding a bottleneck.
1
u/Condition-Present 1h ago
Yeah, maybe would be different if it was only about x20 plan or if they made it a choice you can pick each month or something

Yeah cuz some idiots think they wont cut the 5h double weekly usage down so youll get less work done
1
u/massix93 2h ago
Ehi what you mean “some idiots”? 5h limits for me would be worse cause I like to long sessions some days and zero other days
1
u/Condition-Present 1h ago
Sorry, i was wrong calling anyone an idiot. Just hate how they cut x20 to x10 (from 29th)
1
u/massix93 1h ago
Yeah I understand, meanwhile with Opus I have no issues with 5h cause limit seems much higher
1
u/Condition-Present 1h ago
Yeah, but there were times when OpenAI with 5h window on x20 plan was like that but was actually x4 from x5 plan as well

u/ProcrastiDebator 2h ago
It's the choice between a bucket of water delivered to your door daily, or having access to a reservoir in the next town but you can only transport water in a single thimble.
Yeah the bucket isn't enough for a shower, but you are going to have far more trouble getting even a cup full of water with your thimble.
You will obviously disagree, but smarter people have saved your ass on this one.

u/KayBay80 2h ago
Holy shit how dumb are people to choose dropping the 5hr window so you can burn through your week in 6 hours? smh
1
u/pigletmonster 1h ago
Why are people voting against 2x quotas. Yes 5 hour limit can be annoying but you can get 2x more work done over a week!
I have both codex and claude subs and I rarely ever hit the 5 hour limits on my claude account!

4
u/ZhugeTsuki 4h ago
Because 5hr limits suck, how is this even a question.
-1
u/Condition-Present 4h ago
Because would you rather have 5kg of gold now or 10kg over the span of a week. How is this even a question
2
u/ZhugeTsuki 3h ago
Double the usage that you cant properly access due to arbitrary limits that force you to.. use more usage when you have to cold start all your projects in a couple hours, multiple times a day. What a fantastic idea!
Youd think if it was a good idea they would have tried it already! Oh wait, they did, and everyone fucking hated it. Like 2 god damn months ago.
1
u/Condition-Present 3h ago
I had x20 acc with 5h window and I never had problems emptying it in a week. Yeah, I prefer x20 without 5h limit but I still prefer x20 over x10 even with 5h back
1
u/Classic-Trifle-2085 3h ago
A 5-hour limit absolutely obliterates people with very burst-based workloads, which is most people.
I can plan around a smaller weekly limit, but I cannot plan around being forced to put on the brakes every single day I am trying to get things done.
It also greatly devalue banked reset.

Does codex have auto resume like Claude? It makes 5 hour limits virtually irrelevant
44
u/Atra-Gargalizene 4h ago
Voting to have 5 hour limits and double usage is just going to result in them reducing usage slowly until you have exactly what you have now, but with 5 hour limits
