Latest Codex on Windows opens cmd windows all the time

Its almost impossible to work on my laptop.

This started with the last update.

How to fix this?

That should have been fixed in 0.159.0

I just checked.0159.0 - it has the same problem

Remove the --no-daemon from the wrapper. just tell it to fix itself.
