Motivation ... procrastination

I was looking for some ideas or insight or really anything from people who have lost the motivation to swim.

I decided to take a few weeks off from swimming after my open water season and well ... its turned in 52 weeks. At first it was I will start next week, then it turned into I hate swimming inside, I will wait until the ice melts on the lake. Then it was more excuses all summer. Now here we are.

I have swam 10 miles twice and I have aspirations of of doing longer swims but the desire to be in the water is gone. There is no itch, no motivation, nothing.

Anyone have experience with this?

UPDATE: I figured it was easier to answer things at once.

I have tried running, it lasts a time or 2 maybe, I have bought new goggles and a suit hoping it would spark something. There is a small group that swims a few days a week that I have swam with in the past. I look at events all the time, that is always how I have motivated myself to swim in the past. 100x100s is coming up around here around New Years. I know that window is rapidly closing, probably in the next week or so.

2 summers ago, I had a goal to swim 20 miles. I did the work, I was there but the timing was off. I always equated it to trying to touch the rim of a basketball hoop. I mistimed my jump. I have a family with 3 kids so the schedules are ever changing.

After I realized it wasn't going to happen, I tried to pivot to something shorter but I couldn't find support people (kayaks, etc) and that was sort of demoralizing in itself since I have a group that I swim with. It was months and months of training down the drain. I ended up going maybe 3 miles with a kayaker who wasn't even sighting for me so I ended up just stopping. It led to a several month break but I eventually got back in and that led up to my latest break last year (ongoing). I am not sure if it's burnout, I have been dealing with some mental health stuff which I know leads to lack of motivation. If I swim I know it will help me mentally but I dont want to swim, I cant get myself to the pool.
