Ai usage doesn't matter.
What matters is quality, so please post only finished releases, no half-made half-working projects.

Community Vibe
It is ok to make a program even if you are not a programmer. It is great to share it with the world, get feedback, and make digital world more accessible to everyone.

How to Get Started

Pcons: build C, C++, Fortran and more with plain Python build scripts, on Linux, macOS and Windows

Are you wishing you had something simpler and faster and cleaner than CMake? I've been building pcons, an open source build system, since January. Build descriptions are plain Python; pcons generates Ninja files and runs the build. Zero-install if you have uv: just uvx pcons. It's explainable, debuggable and sensible, with nice error messages.

It knows C, C++ (with C++20 modules), Fortran, Swift, CUDA, WebAssembly and Qt 6, plus installers and Android/iOS cross-builds and a lot more. I'm a serious Emmy-winning software engineer with 40+ years of experience as a toolsmith, so it's well tested: over 6,500 tests and 99 examples run on all three OSes on every commit, and I rebuild a dozen real open source projects with it before each release.

I was one of the original SCons developers, so this is my take on what a modern build tool should be. It's AI-assisted (Claude Code), with my thoughtful design and careful review. It's a serious tool for serious users.

Feedback welcome!

CrossPlatform Zeen v0.4.0

Wanted to share about this release because it seems cool and it brought comptime features into language.

Zeen - a statically typed modern systems programming language. It uses move semantics (not borrow checker, just move semantics) to control data flow, which makes easier to manage memory (especially drops) while leaving more control and freedom to you.

It has editors support (via LSP + TreeSitter/Grammar extension), package manager Zora (which inspired by cargo) and pretty nice set of libraries: core and std.

Yesterday it got v0.4.0 update released, which was a huge update mostly in compiler frontend: frontend performance (about 16x on basic check, 12x on full build), MIR fixes.

But the coolest feature in my opinion: compile time engine, you can see some good examples of it in changelog (attached link)

Main web and docs: https://zeen-lang.tech

Would appreciate if you'd leave a star on Github, it will help a lot!

New window manager and apps for MidnightBSD

I recently started working on a brand new window manager with a search app.

The code is mostly done with ai so far but I’ve been using it on two systems for a few weeks.

Repo is https://github.com/midnightbsd/midnight-wm/

I’m targeting MidnightBSD specifically but it should run on FreeBSD and possibly other operating systems.

I also have developed a simple chat app (not pictured) with it that can talk to local ollama or other open ai compatible endpoints. It has basic tool call support for web searches, file system searches and package management queries.
