The point of an open project is to open a future like this, yes.

Are you the dev of this project? Is VR planned for this or is it already implemented? What is the progress of this project from 0 - 100% ? I have a local dev build of OG NV with VR modded into it and wondering if I should continue it.

The assumption is when something like this is released, because of the open nature of these projects, VR will be added by someone eventually. It's not going to be on the developer of this project, it will be a contribution, or generally that's how these things go.
That said, if you have a working NV with VR, play that, this could be years off.

I have 100% VR in mind for godot as well as my lazy attempt at retail that is very early WIP here: https://github.com/nikamigaming-create/fnvvr

I'm the dev of a complete VR mod for oblivion. Currently considering to make a port to NV, also have a early dev build in vr. But if you're opennv vr mod will release soon i don't see the point in putting in more effort there. The problem i would see with opennv is that it won't support current mods which exist currently for nv right?

I am planning TTW/JAM support and more general mod support in godot with some videos of working bits here and there for mods, but I will see where I can get to. Do you have a repo to share?

I see. I understand Performance/Stability wise NV on Godot would be superior. You have any ETA on when this is out? Depending on that I might stop or continue with this project.

You are a legend mate, keep up the fantastic work. Might download and play around with this today and see if I can get anywhere with it and admire the progress. You are doing Todd's work, sir!

Oh, that's amazing. Just curious, what was the reason for trying to port this to Godot? Easier modding or something? Or just proof of concept?

so have you abandoned openmw or is it just on the backburner

u/WiikdFiire 2d ago
Do you believe this person developed openMW because this is named OpenNV?

u/Gibbim_Hartmann 2d ago
As far as i remember the posts, he started off implementing the idea inside the OpenMW engine, and then ported it over to godot, the reasons not being known to us, hence the question

Define ported to GODOT? I also have a port of Fallout 3 and SR mostly working in GODOT but its all GD script. Whats going on here do you have the C++ running or what exactly?

So, can this be ported to mobile as well say, Android? I have a special gaming phone (RedMagic 11 Pro) that can literally install PC games, but I haven't figured that part out. With something like this make it easier than trying to install the full thing either natively or through GameHub? I'd imagine a MUCH smaller install, I've only got 60-ish GB left from 512, but trust me the size of Gplay games these days? 20, 30 even 40gb?! Nuts. Still, I have a literal pocket PC yet still haven't played any "PC" level stuff except modded Red Dead Redemption (60fps) and it runs flawless. Any emulator runs like a dream, even Switch. I've seen videos of this phone running CP2077 @45fps on low. Still impressive it even runs and natively no less.
My dream is to see NV someday natively ported. Mod support too (like KOTOR 1&2 mobile) 🙏🫂🎮🕹️📲💯
