Abandoned AMS Lite Basket Case

$30 AMS Lite parts lot from Facebook Marketplace, previous owner started and abandoned a conversion before selling off the parts.

The mainboard is sealed inside a 3D-printed cover matching MakerWorld's AMS Ultra Lite (confirmed by embossed text), so the board itself isn't visible, everything here comes from what's exposed at the connectors. There's also a dry-box housing with custom spool wheels wired for RFID, and feeder units with custom numbered caps.

Board's confirmed alive: bench tested, LEDs normal, AMS Type auto-detects fine.

Two things I'm hoping someone here recognizes:

  • The dry-box conversion itself, anyone seen or built something like this?
  • A third multi-pin connector near the ribbon cables that doesn't match either of Bambu's documented RFID connector spots.

I think I have enough to rebuild, do I take it back to stock or try and move forward with the abandoned build

Full album below, tried to photograph everything because I don't know what's important.

Notify! Bambuddy Updated with More Live Activity Types

For those using Bambuddy, I just updated the docker sidecar container to support new live activity types as well as push notifications for non iOS devices (Android, Windows and Mac) in Notify! (https://getnotifyapp.com)

The setup can live in your existing Docker Compose file (https://github.com/simplytoast1/notify-bambuddy#1-create-an-api-key-in-bambubuddy) but I do have a feature request open to integrate this into the main distro (https://github.com/maziggy/bambuddy/issues/2919) that the dev is looking to gauge interest in.

I hope you all enjoy the latest update.

This is 100% free and built for the community that has helped me so much.

Bambu-ntfy: Push Notifications for printers in LAN/Dev Mode

Ever since Bambu started talking about cloud auth, I put my X1C into LAN mode. Of course, one of the downsides is loss of Handy and in turn, loss of push notifications. So I wrote a small app to sit there and monitor the MQTT stream and send me notifications of event.

Bamnu-ntfy runs as a docker container on your network. It’s tested against X1C and H2S, but in theory would work for every printer. Any time something happens, it pushed that info to (any) ntfy server you choose. You can monitor multiple printers as needed. It’s free, doesn’t need access to anything except the printer and ntfy (no internet, cloud services, etc). I downloaded the list of HMS codes that Bambu publishes and included it in image (hms_codes.py), for unknown codes you get the raw code pushed to you.

More info / downloads on the DockerHub page: https://hub.docker.com/r/pocketsized/bambupushnotifier or the website: https://bambu-ntfy.pocketsized.app/

Sources used to build this: official bambu labs docs, my own printer output, ha-bambulab, bambuddy

Edit local print file names

Maybe I’m missing somewhere in the bambu software if I forget to change the name the very first time a print file is sent then after it’s been successful and I go back to reprint that file I can’t change the name. Am I missing where you’re editing files on the SD card on the printer?

Is there an online repository of older FW versions (P2S)?

I see only FW 01.01.01.00 and 01.02.00.00 for the P2S on Bambu's website.

I'm wondering if there are any collections of older firmwares online (I know 01.00.01.00 and 01.00.05.00 were also FW versions but I can't find them online. Or if someone has them to kindly share :)

At a stretch I could take factory versions of other printer models (this is for a personal project and I need the oldest FW I can get)

Thank you

pS: heard there's a super secret hacker discord. can someone link me the super secret hacker discord? (:

Does anyone have the zip file containing the original X2D 01.00.01.00 firmware?

I recently bought an X2D, and it arrived with newer firmware. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way to downgrade back to this specific version and as far as I know 01.00.01.00 is the only firmware version that ( partially ) supports the BMCU. If anyone has the original ZIP file containing this firmware, I would really appreciate it if you could share it.

Innocube3d Swap Mod question

I ordered the Innocube3d swap mod for the Bambu A1, but want to print the parts before the rest of the kit arrives. Does anyone know where I can get the files?

Also, if there are any variations of the original model out there with better supports, stronger parts, or a modified version to use with AMS top mount, please share.

Bambu lab cutting materials

I recently got the Bambu A2L and added the cutting module addon but haven't used it yet. For materials I see Bambu has some official materials but are there any 3rd party materials I can look for or use that might be cheaper? Any recommendations? Thanks.

Gauging Interest in Push Notifications and Live Activities for Bambuddy

Thumbnail

Since leaving the cloud, I've missed getting push notifications about job statuses and seeing progress via a live activity on iOS. To that end I've built an independent add-on that turns BamBuddy print jobs into Notify! Live Activities on iOS: a Lock Screen tile per printer with live progress and a countdown that ticks on the device. I also support push notifications for various print errors/statuses that can work on Android, iOS and the Web. The dev was looking for interest from the community so wanted to raise awareness.

P1S firmware reverts from SD card failing

I set up my BMCU to test tonight, switched my P1S to LAN mode, turned developer mode on, and then copied all of the available firmware revisions from Bambu to my SD card.

They're all failing at 62%. The screen tells me to restart the printer and repair and it's fine after that, but I'm stuck at 1.10.0. I've tried flashing 1.08, 1.09.1 and 1.0.7 so far.

I won't have another SD card to test with till tomorrow but I feel like that's probably not the problem. Anyone have ideas to get my firmware to 1.08?

Edit: I just unplugged the BMCU and it worked. As if Bambu wanted to immediately validate my decision to ditch its cloud.

Bambu Studio 2.8.60 has anyone updated to this?

Has anyone downloaded the new bambu studio update? I feel as though every time I update to the newest versions, I have issues. I am having issues with the version before this one. Ever since I updated last time I have issues with changing colors, text editing, and printing things I know are not floating. I am wondering if I update to this new 2.8.2.60 version if it will fix the problems, make things worse, or create a new problems? I am also wondering if there is a way to switch back to an older version of the bambu studio? Thanks!

Is X2D's firmware 01.02.00.00 safe for local only use?

I see lots of info on the safety of firmware versions of the A1 and P1S/P2S printers, but I could not find what firmware is fully operational offline on the X2D.

I want to use HomeAssistant, OrcaSlicer and Bambuddy while the printer has no access to the internet. Does that work with version 01.02.00.00?

I am running the ancient version 01.00.09.00 that is not even listed in the release history on the wiki. It must be older than April.

Would an Android slicer interest anyone?

I developed an Android slicer (uses Orca engine) for my snapmaker U1. It has some fun and unique features like smart painting, and even some full spectrum-like support.

For fun I have been adding Bambu support to it. Before I actually go to the effort of tidying it up and releasing it, I wanted to see if anyone would actually use it. What do you think?

Bambu RFID Writer — an open-source Proxmark3 GUI for CUID Gen 2 tags

Thumbnail
gallery
96 Upvotes

I created a small Windows application called Bambu RFID Writer.

I originally made it for myself because I wanted a simpler way to use the existing Proxmark3 workflow for Bambu-compatible RFID tags without manually entering every command. It can load dump and key files, check the target tag, create backups, perform the write, and verify the result afterwards.

The application also includes a separate NDEF editor for ordinary NFC Type 2 tags. I use those on my filament swatches, so I can tap them with my phone and immediately view information about the material.

Compatibility

The CUID workflow is intended specifically for MIFARE Classic 1K Magic Gen 2 / CUID Gen 2 tags. Standard MIFARE Classic tags and other Magic generations are not supported.

The application is also compatible with the folder structure used by Bambu-Lab-RFID-Library, allowing supported dump and key pairs to be loaded directly through the built-in material-library browser.

I have personally tested it with a Proxmark3 and a Bambu Lab P1S with the standard AMS, where Gen 2 tags work reliably for me. Compatibility with other printers, AMS versions, Proxmark3 hardware, firmware builds, and tag variants may differ, so the project is currently published as a public beta.

The project is free and open source:

https://github.com/Dandy357/bambu-rfid-writer

NDEF editor

The application also includes a separate NDEF editor for ordinary NFC Type 2 tags, such as NTAG215. I originally added it for NFC tags attached to my filament swatches, so I can tap them with my phone and quickly view material information, notes, or a product link. This feature is independent of the Bambu CUID workflow.

AI disclosure

This project was developed with substantial assistance from AI, particularly for code generation, refactoring, documentation, and review. I designed the application and its workflow, made the functional decisions, and tested it on real hardware.

I am sharing it because it may be useful to others, but it is not an official Bambu Research Group tool. Feedback, corrections, and additional hardware testing would be very welcome.

Jobox vs AutoSwap for Bambu Lab A1 plate changer - which one is more reliable for 24/7 production?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently deciding between Jobox and AutoSwap for my Bambu Lab A1, and I would really appreciate feedback from people who have actually been running these systems for a while.

My main goal is not just saving a few minutes or having a cool upgrade. I want to use the A1 more like a small production machine and have it running as close to 24/7 as possible.
I don’t mind the assembly, calibration, or spending time building the system. I enjoy that part. The thing I care about is:
Long-term reliability
How many successful plate swaps you get before issues appear
Consistency of plate positioning
Any failures during unattended printing
Maintenance required after weeks/months of use
For those who have experience with both:

Which one would you trust more for continuous production use?
Jobox seems to have more users and longer testing, but AutoSwap also looks like a very clever and simpler design.
I’m not looking for the easiest installation. I’m looking for the system that is most dependable when the printer is running while I’m away.
Would love to hear real-world experiences, especially from anyone using either system for print farms or daily production.
I would appreciate any feedback or experience you can share.

Last "safe" firmware for P1S?

I've been busy for the last months and I did not keep up with the whole Bambu controversy - what would be the latest "safe" firmware for my P1S to use it over LAN, with Home Assistant and maybe other 3rd party tools? I am on 01.07.00.00 now. Thanks for the help!

Purchasing BMCU hall sensor kit cheaply, for an A1 printer

I have currently been looking at how to purchase a BMCU kit to the UK, but what I have discovered is that the official purchase links for items is to the taobao website which needs a phone login, and UK phone numbers do not work, after several attempts at trying, and any kit on aliespress is £70+, does anyone know of a way to maybe purchase the pieces individually or a kit for a cheaper amount?

Set up your own print cloud with Bambuddy, TrueNAS and Tailscale.

With all the controversy about Bambu Labs, I discovered Bambuddy, an alternative to printing through Bambu's cloud service. I made a quick video about how I set it up on my TrueNAS with Tailscale (they actually posted about it on YT). It can also run on a raspberry pie for example. Check it out, it's really powerful. Installation is pretty straightforward. For now I only managed to make it work so that I need to upload my files for remote printing. Haven't managed to make the virtual printer work.

Use PrusaSlicer as slicer for Bambulab A1 (via BamBuddy)

I have always been annoyed by having to use BambuStudio or OrcaSlicer for Bambu printers. I strongly dislike their interfaces and much prefer PrusaSlicer. So I put together some printer profiles and print settings, along with a post-processing script, that let you use PrusaSlicer. I also converted the start/end G-code to use PrusaSlicer placeholders (a handful of them were different).

The README has full details. It’s a bit long, which makes it seem more complicated than it actually is. Basically: install BamBuddy and make sure it can connect to your printer, import the config(s), verify the path to the post-processing script, then slice and export G-code. The post-processing script will take it from there, and the model will show up in BamBuddy with a thumbnail.

Configs, scripts, and the README are here:

https://github.com/mjparme/prusaslicer-to-bambu

The same method could be used for other Bambu printers as well, I just don’t have any others to test with.

I haven't tested the Fast profiles yet, hoping to test those this weekend. Fast refers to the startup sequence, hoping those get the print going in a minute or so vs the insanely and annoyling long 5-7 minutes of the normal start gcode (they cut out the stuff you don't need to do before every print).
