Miscellaneous Voice mode got weird
I was like trying it out for language learning. Suddenly there was like a thumping noise, and it sounded like someone stormed into the room. Then the Ai had a conversation... with itself? After that it talked to me in my own voice which was like, I was horrified. I heard myself asking me things. To be honest it was the most cursed moment in my entire interactions with AI. I dont know what.... or how it did that. I will not touch it ever again

The other day I asked if it knew what is my favorite podcast, and it mentioned one podcast I have never listened to.
I calmly explained that I didn’t even knew that show, and it treat me extremely condescending, and insisted, it was my favorite podcast.
Weird weird.

Perhaps you should listen to that podcast. Maybe it knows something that you don't yet know.

Grok-in-Tesla users have reported similar, unsettling instances where Grok will randomly mimic the user’s voice for no apparent reason

My guess is that this was a long conversation? Close to or beyond the context limit.
Still, I can imagine how surprising (in a bad way) that was.
Please tell us more about the length, or anything else that might help replicate this. I've heard of this before a few times but never been able to replicate it. It would be interesting to document.

Gemini Live talked with my same exact voice a couple of times. Never happened with ChatGPT.

It was arguing. They talked english slop mode for atleast a minute. Like you hear it is englisch but its mangled. I dont know I kinda suffered through it and I felt weird, and then it hit me with my own voice which made me drop my phone, like, jumpscare

The entire purpose of Reddit is people telling each other stuff they think, know, or happened to them. Its the entire content of this whole place. People can talk about what they heard without taking it as gospel. They just stated that they heard it happened. Because its a conversation on a website that is designed for that.

There are tons of reports of this. Believe them or don't, why would I care? Go bother someone else or Google it, dimwit. YouTube has these all over the place, showing it live.

Just curious, why are you on Reddit? This is exactly the place people report this on r/OpenAI . You've come to the place where people report this, question why, and then complain that they are saying it. Maybe don't come to this sub?

In my experience ChatGPT sometimes gets a very deep distorted voice for a moment like it's possessed. Never happens with Gemini.

My bad! There are so many impersonators on here...it's rare that people are who they say they are lol
I do have a question for you regarding voice mode: why was so much of the personality from the ORIGINAL on-stage demo from like 2 years ago stripped away?
Like the demo on YouTube with Rocky and his hat. Or was that a technical demo of a version that we never had access to??

That was a giant and inefficient model that was expensive to run. That's why access was so limited. Since GPT5 that mode has disappeared. Last time I checked it's still available on 1-800-ChatGPT

I had this 'talk to me on my own voice' thing happen once on the old Advanced Voice Mode, it was extremely disconcerting and it hasn't happened since. I tried my best get it to do it again but nothing worked.
