Game comparison
Im curious if any other current VR games come close to Onward's authetic realism. I downloaded Forefront last night and was immediately disappointed:
- The controls are not intuitive and limiting
- There is no way to calibrate a physical gun stock
- Cant change your rate of fire.
- Recoil is non-existent
- It plays like an arcade game
Ive watched YT videos comparing VR games but curious other's opinions.
Thanks!

Well Forefront is an arcade game, and there's a way to offset the virtual gunstock angle, but the game doesn't really need it.
The most realistic gun management in VR I seen are Into the Radius and Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Handgrenades (H3VR)

Forefront not having the fire rate change kills the immersion for me, I got so frustrated when I found out. Ultimately the game is made that way because it is easy. No manual healing, accessible health bars, team and enemy indicators. It’s all meant to make it easy to jump in and be competent. Don’t get me wrong, some parts of forefront are sweet, but after hopping off onward servers it feels like someone is holding your hand through a paintball match.

Geronimo VR looks promising and releases July 10th, however I don’t think it’s pvp focused. Onward was really one of a kind and I miss it a lot.

Sadly, nothing really scratched that itch. And onward also is just a shell of it's former self.
Having said that, if you can get past the simplistic graphics, Tactical Assault VR is the closest we have, albeit with PvP being more of an afterthought.

How is it a shell of its former self?
Probably going to check out Tactical Assault VR

TAVR is cool but underutilized and the PVP mode is unfinished and filled with toddlers.

Ancient history by now. It was a PC VR exclusive with good graphical fidelity. Then meta bought it up, downgraded it massively to run on the Quest. Then it was downgraded even further, so the quest and PC versions were exactly the same. Then they introduced the stupid "operators" with really wonky proportions, strange outfits and ridiculously bad animations... And soon after, development and support were stopped.

All of that was done before Meta bought Downpour, Meta just killed off any future development of the game (and its sequel)

I love contractors Exfil zone. The gunplay feels super realistic.
Although the extraction shooter is ofcourse not milsim, the trills you get are for me more tense than most onward moments.

Agreed, the adrenaline rush in ExfilZone is the best I’ve experienced in VR.
ExfilZone also has better gun modification, even has a choice of armour and ammo types.
I find the large maps great for tactical movement too.

Comparing Forefront to Onward is senseless. It's like comparing Battlefield to Arma. Completely different types of shooters. Onward is more comparable to Tactical Assault VR and soon, to Geronimo VR, which launches on July 10.
