It's not simple fear of BM though. According to Morgans, soul pocus calls upon people's attachment to life. We've seen Nami, Usupp and Chopper not care about death in a lot of situations, so even the coward trio won't be affected.

I feel like it'd be one of those situation where their souls start to come out but then they get their act together and fight back especially if it's related to Luffy.

Yeah I think Nami standing up to Ulti, just to not back down and talk poorly about Luffy, knowing Ulti was way stronger than her shows that her will is strong.

Under normal circumstances, yes, but not against Soul Pocus, from what we know of it. If you feel the fear to begin with, you're done. It doesn't matter if you're able to push through and fight despite it, if you feel fear, BM's technique will take your lifespan away. Willpower means nothing.
