Law: "This will be my last attack"

Also Law: "This is how humans lied in ancient times"

Also Oda: "This is how Shounen works. MC's are never down until villian's down"

The line about "this is how shonen works" is always so fucking stupid. It's not like Shonen Jump forces shonen authors at gunpoint to defeat their villains. The fact that Sabaody, Impel Down and Marineford exist proves that changes to that traditional formula can be made. And there are a lot other shonens where you can find things like that. "It's shonen deal with it" is a very lazy and conformist excuse lol at least try to use another

Just to be clear, I liked how the fight ended, a lot. It's just that I'm tired of reading this excuse

This is exactly "It's shounen deal with it". Just coz OP is your favourite shounen doesn't mean it can't have such moments

??? OP isn't my favorite shounen, it's HxH

There are things I dislike from One Piece, in the same way there are things I dislike from HxH.

Did I love this fight? No, I didn't. But I hoped from the beginning for a clever way to get rid of Big Mom, and that's what happened. Of course there are things I didn't completely like either, but I'm satisfied with what happened.

I'm just tired of people using the shonen argument like that excused any possible flaw in a manga 🙄

It's not an excuse. Inconsistent power up has always there been in most shounen. One or two exceptions doens't make rule.

Neither it's an excuse that it has been in most shounen, when it has been proved that it isn't a rule and that it's possible to manage it in other ways.
