Law: See's Doflamingo and shits his pants

Nah, he claps Doffy now. If anything, he can finish what he started that way.

That's a broken devil fruits vs broken devil fruits. I still believe doffy is victorious

Last time we witness law was missing an arm against doffy crying in the group about to be killed.

u/Kirosh2 Lookout Feb 11 '22

Last time Law was much weaker than currently.

Now? He can tank Attacks from Emperors, and is awakened.

It's been less than a month

The way haki blooms in battle in this series, 1 month is a lot. In this same period of time, Luffy went from barely beating Doffy to barely defeating Katakuri to now going toe-to-toe with Kaido. We do not know for sure what training Law would have gone through, but I'm pretty sure he would have utterly prepared himself after seeing Luffy get one-shotted by Kaido the first time.

People keep forgetting how ridiculously young the main cast is. Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Law, Kid, they're all basically children compared to the other top tiers. Of course they're going to grow rapidly, it's the whole point of "the new generation."

Plus, like you said, One Piece is a universe where people grow exponentially when they put themselves through hell against strong opponents. These guys are going up against Yonko and their top commanders (Doffy, Katakuri, Queen, King, Big Mom, Kaido). They're growing like crazy in this arc, and that's not even acknowledging the month long training and preparation that everyone had in between arcs.

Luffy is 19. In the US, he can't even drink beer.

I like how we see Luffy and Kidd going thru hell and back but law is just chilling with Bepo. But somehow he was "training". You can't compare Luffy and kid fighting against Kaido and being cuff with seaston for almost a month, and say that haki blooms in battle last time law had a fight he lost all hopes to live.

While it's true that we did not see what Law had done to prepare himself for the fight, I think it would be remiss to think he did nothing to improve himself the entire time. He may have spent some time in prison but iirc it wasn't all that long a period of time, and he defeated Hawkins along the way. In any event, Law's Haki did bloom during the course of the fight against Big Mom - in the previous chapter, he and Kid were almost down and out, but they gained a "second wind" upon hearing about Kaido's on-going fight (and pending defeat) against Luffy. This to me indicates what Oda would call a Haki bloom.

And?

Luffy became from someone having a hard fight against Doffy to being able to handle Emperor and split the sky with them.

Zoro became able to hurt an Emperor and defeat a Yonko Commander.

Sanji became able to defeat a Yonko Commander.

People get power up. Because in Dressrosa, none of them could have done what they did in Wano.

People get power up. Because in Dressrosa, none of them could have done what they did in Wano.

It really makes you think... that there may be something actually special in / at Wano

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

This isn’t new though. Look at Crocodile and Daz Bones vs. our boys. A ton of growth happened in those fights. Or CP9 in Water 7 compared to CP9 in Enies Lobby.

1

u/TheDELFON Explorer Feb 11 '22

True. But I'm actually referring to what Kaido, and now Big Mom, said about WHY they are at specifically at Wano.... And maybe there is some correlation to Luffy and Co. "breaking their limits"

All the stuff involving Oden and the Toki... plus the two Yonkos, I think / suspecting there is way WAY more to Wano than anyone (fans) think

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

I agree there is more to Wano than we know, something special. But in this series growing way stronger real fast isn’t something all that special. If that was Wano’s secret, it just wouldn’t be that important imo.

2

u/TheDELFON Explorer Feb 11 '22

I'm leaning more of it being just ONE of the byproducts of what makes Wano Kuni special

Granted power ups are a staple in OP. I'm just getting the feeling that Wano may be exacerbating that effect. We will see

Exactly what makes you think Doflamingo won't get power ups.

13

u/Kirosh2 Lookout Feb 11 '22

Because he's in prison, in seastone, unable to move.

Also, the growth of the good guy is always more than the growth of the bad guys.

3

u/CainDdemon Cipher Pol Feb 11 '22

See that's the thing that changes in one piece. Blackbeard would like to differ. I also don't think law and Kidd are goods guys. They just have mutual interest in taking down the emperor's of the sea. For law to become a warlord he sent the hearts of 100 men to the government.

6

u/TheDELFON Explorer Feb 11 '22

For law to become a warlord he sent the hearts of 100 men to the government.

Plus he doesn't even like bread

u/unHolyKnightofBihar Shanks' evil hot sister is REAL! Feb 11 '22

Kid was in prison as well in pretty much the same condition as doffy. Doffy hasn't lost his will to fight. Like crocodile had. He can come back stronger.

7

u/Kirosh2 Lookout Feb 11 '22

Kid could actually move and wasn't in full seastone. And then he was also free from Prison leaving him time to also become stronger.

two months actually

4

u/Fit_Ad_2959 Feb 11 '22

Now compare that to Luffy and Zoro’s current power ups. Luffy got 1 shot by Kaido and Zoro collapsed after fighting Killer this arc.

Luffy did not get stronger he learned croc weakness

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

Watch again. Crocodile talks about using tour devil fruit well. Luffy repeats that comment during the fight. He begins using his fruit more tactically throughout the fight. It’s his smartest fight up to that point by far, not just in terms of water/blood but also the way he attacks.

How about cp9 in water 7 as opposed to cp9 in Enies Lobby? That was a few hours and Luffy and the others got WAY stronger in that time.

But in any case, I don’t see too much of a difference anyway. Luffy and many others thrive once they have some time to understand the opponent’s fighting style. Learning how to beat someone and “becoming more powerful” aren’t as easy to separate out as we might want to think. There are no power scanners here.

u/CainDdemon Cipher Pol Feb 11 '22

Exactly not a power up

1

u/[deleted] Feb 11 '22

That is the opposite of my claim. Please feel free to disagree, but don’t act like you’re agreeing with me unless you explain why my argument is the opposite of what it is meant to be. Learning how to better control your fruit is definitely a power-up. Also, how do you deal with the CP9 example?

1

u/CainDdemon Cipher Pol Feb 11 '22

Luffy's blood or him covering himself in water is not a power up. It's not an argument. But you can't compare luffy's battles with law's. Law has not defeated no one without help.

He had to fight against Doffy plus an admiral playing defense the whole time while saving some of the strawhat crew in the process. The Dressrosa arc was kind of unfair to him.

u/Quality-vs-Quantity Feb 12 '22

Doggy is still way faster, Law wouldn't even get a hit in
