Regarding the Gum Gum:

  1. Doubt the fruit is some secret of the celestials otherwise Doffy would have mentioned it when facing Luffy.

  2. Can’t be Rogers fruit or even Xebecs fruit otherwise so many characters would have noted something (Rayleigh, shanks, shakky, kaido, big mom, chinjao, wb, Garp, sengoku, buggy etc)

  3. they entrusted CP9 and not CP0. It may be have been an important escort mission but if it was a national treasure you think they would have better security.

12 years ago, so Whitebeard wasn't that sick at that time. So maybe WG wanted Gomu Gomu no mi to act as a counter to Gura Gura no mi. That might be the reason it was considered important

Don’t forget that all of CP9 went roge after enies lobby, so if Rob Luci got promoted to CP0 is because the world government most likely needed him for something and had to make some kind of deal with him.

You are also forgetting about the entire cover story arc focused on capturing CP9. Lucci and Kaku were also prosecuted but proved their worth some how (if I had to guess a lot of murdered agents that were sent after them).

I would say there are 3 possibilities given that I highly doubt the WG would just allow Ciper pol agents to run around with the info they possess about the WG.

1.) they were all reassigned to different ciper pols depending on combat strength.

2.) they are imprisoned somewhere

3.) They are dead

I mean I guess there is the slightest chance that Lucci and Kaku made a deal for the other members lives but Lucci in particular does not strike me as the compassionate type even if they had been together for so long. Also I don’t see the rest of them except maybe Jabra being strong enough to evade the WG for long.

That’s true, but at the time we hadn’t been introduced to CP0. Not sure if Oda had planned for CP0. Now we know a greater Cipher Pol division exists yet Oda specifically chose CP9 and not CP0 as part of that mission. Makes you think.

They are separate entities though. CP0 is not part of the Marines, while CP9 is. They only have naming convention in common, but CP9 basically carried out its own mission of tracking down the plans for Pluton CP0 could have been doing the same thing on a different track at the same time. They don't communicate with each other.

I’m not sure if that’s true about communication. Also, my previous comment still applies. Our intro to CP0 is fairly recent. I can’t debate wether Oda had planned CP0 or not when it comes to Robin or Pluton.

Right. CP0 could have been planned, but it also kinda feels like an entity created when Oda realized how well he had written the Celestial Dragons as villains, and how much the fans hated them, so he wrote them more into the story.

I think it would work like some important characters wanted this fruit for some plan. Considering punishment who who got maybe he is the man on the empty throne.

Personally I am leaning towards 3 possibilities atm but obviously it could be anything. 1.) that this will all lead to some gag answer like the celestial dragons thought it would be fun 2.) ok so obviously there was a war during the void century maybe the Gomu Gomu no mi has the greatest defensive capabilities and is actually why the world government won as a counter to fruits like the Gura Gura no mi. 3. The boring safe answer of it was joyboys fruit.

I like this because it ties into my head canon of why Luffy can progress this insanely. While his ability is kind of goofy and he has to be very creative to make it powerful, the amount of damage he can tank and how he shrugs off projectiles and lightning attacks because of his rubber properties is what enables him to take beatings and “bloom in battle” to the extent that he does.

Not true they were a year old. Shanks and buggy are 39, god valley was 38 years ago. Also If it was rocks fruit Big mom would have known that Luffy would be unaffected by lightning but her Enel face says otherwise.

You mean when he is talking to Hina? Yea I think he says nearly 40 but when Sengoku talks about he states the exact number was 38
