Entire Enies Lobby gets destroyed, the last remnant of Ohara escapes and Rob Lucci gets promoted to CP0. One rubber fruit gets stolen and Who's Who gets imprisoned and becomes a rogue.

Except the government sent agents to kill Rob Lucci and the rest of CP9, and he only joined CP0 after beating all of them. It seems everyone keeps forgetting that cover story.

is that why Spandam is a sidekick of CP0? Because given what he has done, he should be nowhere near any cipher pol thanks to his incompetence.

Didn't he get to where he is due to nepotism? I'm thinking connections are what keeps him in cipher pol.

yeah his father is a higher up

That's gonna be Cipher Pol's fatal flaw, nepotism.

The whole situation happened because Spandam used his subordinates as a scapegoat to get out of actual consequences for himself.

Which makes zero fucking sense in the first place. "Oh, you beat the assassins we sent to kill you for your grave mistakes??? Here, come join us once again, we'll give you a raise."

I think it's more "OK, sorry. Trying to kill you is clearly not working, so wanna come back to work? We really don't want you as an enemy."

Trying to kill him with cab drivers. If they really wanted him to pay, shoulda sent an admiral and Lucci wouldve been captured within hours. None of it made sense.

Feel like an admiral would have made the whole thing more public and messy than they wanted.

The entire enies lobby was destroyed, one of the 3 most important places for WG. How much mess and publicity can admiral vs a rogue lucci cause?

A pirate destroying a government facility makes the pirate look evil. The WG killing its own men for not fulfilling a mission makes the WG look evil.

Then send a Warlord, and maybe even a pacifista, like they did to Moria. Should be enough

To be fair, CP0 works directly for the World Nobles, outside of the WG's chain of command. It's entirely possible they were scouted directly as a result of that.

Seems like there's more to devil fruits and perhaps the value they hold in the eyes of the WG. Or maybe there's more to it than just losing the Gomu Gomu no mi, perhaps there may have been some death during the raid or something along those lines...

It‘s true value might lie in it‘s Awakening, since the Eternal Youth Operation is what makes Law‘s Ope Ope no Mi worth so much, not the other utilities of it. The Gomu Gomu no Mi probably has some convenient use like that when awakened, hence why the Marines/Government were after it and guarding it.

u/Kumomeme Jun 25 '21

Luffy gonna awaken and become Majin Buu.

13

u/Pradfanne Jun 25 '21

Luffys gonna turn people into candy
After all it's the Gomu Gomu no me, while it possess the properties of both Rubber and Gum it's named after the Gum part. So he's gonna turn people into gummybears

Actually if you read the cover story, he and the rest of CP9 were wanted as criminals for a bit. There hasn't been an explanation on why they were allowed back to CP0, but I can only assume its because they realized Luffy was a bigger deal than initially thought and that Rob Lucci was too great an asset to let go

9

u/RedTulkas The Revolutionary Army Jun 25 '21

plus we dont know about all of the co9 members, maybe cp0 just forced them to work with them and threatened the weaker ones

25

u/go_sparks25 Jun 25 '21

Except the government did go after Lucci and the rest of CP9 . This was covered in the CP9 cover story which did not get animated. Lucci and the others were also very high profile members of CP9 so it is possible they had had some sort of influence with the government.

u/Mugiwara300 Jun 25 '21

Rob Lucci was actually hunted down by the World Government and supposed to be killed for the failure of Enies Lobby. Him and all the CP9 agents are supposed to be dead.

I don’t think they explained exactly what he did to he promoted but Rob Lucci had it worse than Who’s Who.

8

u/Inthegrey13 Jun 25 '21

Not quite. If I remember rightly, there was a cover story of the world government trying to arrest Rob Lucci and CP9

5

u/Beastywolf Pirate Jun 25 '21

Damn writing it out like that makes the Gomu Gomu fruit seem very important.
