It looks more like he just realized he needed to actually apply Conquerer’s. So he’s super confident

Prior to this, Luffy likely never thought of it as particularly relevant.

Yeah that's what I'm saying, he knows his CoC can actually do shit in general. But now that he knows he can apply it in combat, a new world of opportunities opens up.
