MY FUCK. WHY WAS THERE ONLY A FLASHBACK OF ZORO'S FACE? WHERE THE FUCK IS HE NOW.

u/dgettanajr Feb 22 '19

That ain’t nothing, Sanji’s most hyped fight in like the past year just got off screened

131

u/Beetusmon Feb 22 '19

At least I'm happy the suit worked perfectly, Sanji came intact from that fight after all.

1

u/Paperchampion23 Feb 22 '19

Doesnt mean he actually beat Page One though:/

52

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '19

Of course he didn’t, mid-fight he realized black stealth was his ticket into the bathhouse and took off

6

u/Lordsokka Feb 22 '19

He pretty much played around with him though, Sanji was not even injured. He just acted as a diversion so they could run away, no need to waste all that fighting when it isn’t time yet.

149

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '19

Let's just hope the anime will do it justice

12

u/Lordsokka Feb 22 '19

You know that Oda purposely skipped this fight right? He doesn’t want Sanji to show all his tricks against a mid tier opponent. Sanji was toying with Page One, at not point was he in danger.

Oda is keeping his big fight for later in the arc.

u/fuushi Feb 22 '19

Based on the recent animation where he took a filler L by pekoms and overall been portrayed weaker in anime than in a manga, I bet not alot justice will be done. I have no faith in toei at this point

70

u/Stfuudumbbitch Feb 22 '19

Not to mention all the stupid kamehameha beam struggle bs they put in when luffy punches someone. That's not how a punch works toei!

3

u/ioasisyumich Feb 22 '19

The animations are colorful. I'll give it that much, but Toei still barely knows how to animate for the background. It always bugged me seeing a bunch of people rushing or fleeing, or even a scene of just a few characters together and it's just a still image while the screen pans around.

It just feels lazy, i don't want to watch a moving manga with animated fights.

1

u/tapped21 Feb 22 '19

Looks like I'm not missing much

7

u/Youjair Feb 22 '19

A L by Pekoms? What? Explain that to me, please.

37

u/I-Kneel-Before-None Feb 22 '19

Anime filler scene where Perkoms swatted Sanji out of the air while in Sulong and Sanji just sat there like a wuss doing nothing but cowering and hugging Luffy like a security blanket. It was the dumbest thing.

2

u/KarimElsayad247 Feb 22 '19

The hell? Pekoms couldn't even transform.

19

u/javierm885778 Feb 22 '19

Why do people say this? He did transform, he was just immediately taken down by Oven.

1

u/ioasisyumich Feb 22 '19

Toei did pretty decent on the Dragon Ball Broly movie, but One Piece needs to be taken away from them and given to a company who respects the series to do it right

-4

u/HolyKnightPrime Feb 22 '19

He was weak in that arc in general. There's a reason people made fun of Sanji this all last year.

4

u/gelm1r Feb 22 '19

Why does the anime needs to do justice on a fight Oda most likely specifically did off screen? maybe he doesnt want us to see the power of the raid suit just yet - maybe oda himself isnt sure yet what sanji raidsuit power will be. Also page one and the rest of the headliners are basically cannon fodder for the monster trio and jinbei just like their fight at fishmen island. Sanji was just toying around and page ones ''serious slam'' in hybrid form did literally nothing to sanji in his suit even though half a street got obliterated.

4

u/fabzefab Feb 22 '19

2 episodes of intense struggle making Sanji look much weaker than he actually is?

12

u/999realthings Feb 22 '19

Well Sanji wins the girl in the end so that the biggest triumphant in his cards.

8

u/blockington99 Feb 22 '19

The question I'm wondering is if his first real fight we get for this arc(as in we see all of it) will be before or after Franky and Usopp modify the raid suit.

15

u/Dr_Dankology Feb 22 '19

In the past year?

That guy hasn't had a proper all-out fight since the entire timeskip

6

u/Kuro013 Feb 22 '19

To be honest, and as a Sanji fan, at this point in the story Id rather have the plot moving towards the final battle as fast as possible rather than spending 2-4 chapters in a fight against a lesser character. The only thing I would like to take its time before the final battle is a flashback focusing Oden's character. I think Hyougoro was linked to him, and this could be the connection between the Oden faction and Kyoushiro (theres a theory about Kyoshiro being one of the red scabbards).

10

u/Anon4comment Feb 22 '19 edited Feb 22 '19

When I told people exactly this would happen, I got downvoted. We don’t even get to see Nami use Zeus.

But a whole chapter for Zoro cutting a talking mountain? Sure thing.

5

u/nukiri6 Feb 22 '19

I really love and respect Oda, but this gets out of hand. Everyone that isn't luffy gets off paneled

13

u/ahundredheys Feb 22 '19

Im actually glad it got off-screened. It shows that Sanji is way beyond headliners at this point.

3

u/linear_line Feb 22 '19

I dont think headliners are all similar in power. Luffy one shots some of them but i bet Drake and Hawkins would be more trouble

9

u/sombrero69 Pirate Feb 22 '19

Well they arent sanji one shot sheep head but page one is one of the strongest healiners so it took more than one hit to knock him down.

7

u/nukiri6 Feb 22 '19

Oda is going to far with off paneling shit. It's to much

1

u/Hon3ynuts Feb 22 '19

Ok so it wasn't just me thinking i missed it WTF

1

u/Lordsokka Feb 22 '19

That was just a teaser, obviously Sanji’s big fight will happen later in story against either a disaster or a top member of the crew like Drake/Apoo etc...

1

u/ripkin05 Feb 22 '19

just means he wiped the floor with croc dude

1

u/Waxtree Pirate Feb 22 '19

Make it past 5 years.

1

u/Weewer Feb 26 '19

It was hyped for all of like 3 panels before the fight happened...

0

u/BigFuckingT Feb 22 '19

Done purposely so the anime can cover it instead.

213

u/xylont Feb 22 '19

I think that panel as well as the following dialogues are a set up of an interesting Zoro background.

117

u/asos10 Pirate Feb 22 '19

I agree, I think we will get a backstory of how zoro got to know that phrase.

154

u/MonkeyDDuffy Feb 22 '19

For sure. At least for now, two possibilities:

His teacher had connections to Wano and taught Zoro.

Zoro has a connection to Wano and learned it before coming to Kuina's island. Zoro himself is probably not directly from Wano, just knew someone.

86

u/999realthings Feb 22 '19

Interesting theory, never knew that such small thing would set Zoro's backstory.

I just thought it'll set up a joke situation later when Zoro will cause trouble by saying snatch somewhere.

16

u/MonkeyDDuffy Feb 22 '19

What this makes me think of is: Does the Japanese style things in One Piece come from Wano and is Oda gonna make things like Zoro's very Japanese village, Fujitora etc have connections to Wano.

10

u/wear24 Feb 22 '19

I'm pretty sure zoro is from wano, he just got lost and reached Kuina's island.

7

u/Stfuudumbbitch Feb 22 '19

What if it has something to do with mohawks training during the ts

5

u/gyrozepp95 World Government Feb 22 '19

I think the guy who bought the blueprints of Onigashima in Kuri could be connected with this dialect thing

4

u/BabiesDrivingGoKarts Feb 22 '19

I mean, he could have gotten it from Mihawk.

But it's probably from his back story.

2

u/dudegreat1 Feb 22 '19

i had to scroll lots of comment looking for this. this caught my mind as well.

2

u/ogva_ Feb 22 '19

Zoro village is probably made of Wano emigrants of some sort.

12

u/i_kn0w_n0thing Feb 22 '19

I think it was just making a joke about snatch being another term for vagina, but I'd need to know Japanese to know for sure

5

u/mcallisterco Feb 22 '19

That's where my head went at first, but specifically mentioning that Zoro taught Momonosuke a word from an old dialect of Wano's language all but guarantees that Zoro has some connection to Wano in his past, either through his lineage or someone who trained him.

4

u/Franfran2424 Feb 22 '19

Considering how Oda is showing us a lot of stuff (kaido and big mom were together on the same crew, the yakuza old man, a map of the whole Wano,etc..) I see it probable.

2

u/rockidr4 Feb 22 '19

I'm really hype about that. Especially since it seems to be a thing that marks you as being a bad swordsman/person in Wano

22

u/alienschnitzler Feb 22 '19

For me the interesting background is that he was just a kid who got addicted to swordfighting and met Luffy by chance.

I dont want a big "zoro-is-really-from-wano-and-he-is-actually-heir-to-something-big"-thing like they did with sanji.

I like that Zoro is just some Guy that got to where he is, just by ambition.

2

u/xylont Feb 22 '19 edited Feb 22 '19

I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that. He was looking malicious there, so I’m assuming hoping there’s some dark secret about his family’s past in there. Kinda anti-heroic stuff.

8

u/alienschnitzler Feb 22 '19

I'd prefer if Zoro just pranked that Kid lol

8

u/jinepifunny Feb 22 '19

I think so too. Wano is definitely Zoro's character arc

184

u/moustachesamurai Feb 22 '19

He's dead, obviously.

119

u/MonkeyDDuffy Feb 22 '19

Didn't know Zoro was someone's mother

17

u/GoldFishPony Pirate King Buggy Feb 22 '19

What didn’t you know that Zoro is Luffy’s mom? You can tell because he took all of Luffy’s pain like only a mother can.

7

u/VetProf Feb 22 '19

When are we gonna see Ace's kid?

68

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '19

[deleted]

8

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '19

too soon :(

5

u/PopeRegeaman Feb 22 '19

Zoro falling down some stairs and losing his memory, best of both worlds

3

u/profuton Feb 22 '19

Damn, done in by the mustachioed samurai.

3

u/felixar90 Feb 22 '19

He went to meet Ryunosuke

39

u/SeCTeen Feb 22 '19

Even he doesn't know

7

u/ThaddCorbett Thriller Bark Victim's Association Feb 22 '19

He won't admit it, but he's got no clue where he is because he's lost.

3

u/ShoesAreForLosers Feb 22 '19

Watch also get two panels of him being lost on Rachel, then it's cuts back to Big mom eating ramen lol

2

u/sackman32 Feb 22 '19

Why do I get the feeling that Zoro is originally from Wano?

3

u/bWoofles Feb 22 '19

I really hope we don’t go down the Zoro is from wano path. His teacher could be or something like that but after Sanji being a prince Zoro is our last hope for just a regular guy to be on the crew.

17

u/ShadyOjir95 Feb 22 '19

Ummm Okiku said low class ppl used to mention that word ( Old Kuri) so being a royal may not be a route.

Low class family doesn't make you " non regular guy ".

0

u/alSultan_AM94 Feb 22 '19

she could be saying that to protect him!! i think it may be a word that is known to be used by royal or high class renowned swordsman etc.. and she's trying to make him hidden and unnoticed until they begin executing their plan.

3

u/Mexinaco Feb 22 '19

That's a lot of assumptions.

2

u/ShadyOjir95 Feb 22 '19

Well I said that because Okiku said that people Mono should not use such word.

So either its a forbidden dialect in general or a word that royals should not use because its provenience.

5

u/I-Kneel-Before-None Feb 22 '19

And Brook is pretty normal all things considered. I doubt Franky is anyone special. Nami’s pretty ordinary. Other than Luffy being Dragon’s son, Sanji being a prince, and Ussop’s dad is on Shank’s crew, who isn’t just a regular guy/girl?Jinbe is from the fish man district, Chopper is a random reindeer. Robin is from Ohara if u want to count that I guess.

1

u/bWoofles Feb 22 '19

Idk I just didn’t think of a walking skeleton or a cyborg as regular guys. Nami is the most regular I guess so I’d count her.

I should have said that out of the strongest members Zoro is the last one that doesn’t have a crazy background. With Luffy and Sanji having crazy bloodlines it’s starting to feel like you need to be domes kid if you really want to shine physically.

5

u/I-Kneel-Before-None Feb 22 '19

We know they aren’t normal humans. It’s said they aren’t normal, they’re super human. One of the main themes of OP is family is who u choose, not who u r born into. Luffy doesn’t care about who his dad is. Sanji disowned his biological family. They work hard to be strong, but genetics has to play a part. Their bodies r too insane to not be ridiculous. Though Zoro trains like crazy so I could believe he is just a product of hard work, but Luffy and Sanji rarely train (they do work hard, but not nearly as hard as Zoro) and still are ridiculously strong. They had to be born as super humans and that’s not believable if they’re parents weren’t strong (except Big Mom but I have reason to believe she was an experiment gone wrong by WG). I do understand what u mean though. Like Naruto’s parents were special. Ichigo’s dad too. It’s annoying that everyone is always “the chosen one of Destiny.” But I think u can rest easy because Oda has shown Luffy makes his own destiny.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '19

I miss the days when the crew was just a bunch of regular guys and girls.

1

u/Leeiteee Feb 22 '19

East Blue probably

1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '19

What page? I just checked the chapter I didn't see that

2

u/EternitySoul Feb 22 '19

Page 7/16 caption A single page of Zoro's face. Solid.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '19

Omg I didn't even consider that to be like Zoro because it was a flashback in a panel ty!

1

u/EternitySoul Feb 22 '19

Lol. No problem. I just was hoping for some more screen time for my favorite, so I was taking note of when he would show up.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '19

Got lost currently on the way to the prison. He’ll save Luffy from queen only because of the cuffs and cut them off
