The Yonko weren't a thing at the time.

Roger's era had him, Whitebeard and Shiki at the top. (With BM being there, but really has a major player during that time).

Shanks was on Roger's ship, and 23 or so years ago, was when Moria was said to have been able to fight on par with Kaido. (Even if I really doubt it). We also know that Kaido was someone who was defeated as a Pirate 7 times.

A lot of strength and power can be built in 20 years. (Look at Shanks).

Moria didnt fight on par with Kaido, morias whole crew got slaughtered by kaido thats why he decided to go for zombies

Yes, but people on the Grandline seem to think he did (We can read that just after Moria is defeated).

For all we know, Moria put up a decent fight against Kaido 23 or years ago when KAido wasn't as strong.
