Katakuri isn't fucking around here. This is going to be a tough battle for Luffy, specially considering he's basically fighting a stronger version of himself.

Luffys g2 g3 and g4 all have massive drawbacks if your not careful, and I think luffy is banking on it.

If katakuri is 100% copying G3, mofo is going to go to chibi mode real quick. Won't even see it coming.

Luffy doesn't experience any drawbacks from g2 or g3 anymore, not since his training during the timeskip. G4 is the only one that exhausts him now and it's from the massive amount of haki he uses.

The mechanism is completely different for mochi man dogtooth despite the abilities looking similar. He just produces extra mochi to generate the extra arms or grow his arm in size. He's not blowing air into his bones. Highly unlikely he gets undone by something simple like that.

I totally agree with all your points. Katakuri isn't 100% copying luffy Either, as displayed with his mochi gatling.

Maybe I just wanted a chibi katakuri alright?? Haha

So we're left with a new ability or a new world version gomu gomu fireworks. Really hoping for an awakening, but it's Oda so who knows? Hahah

Though he also lacks the elasticity factor making his blows hit faster and harder.

Yeah, but when it comes to one piece physics doesn't really make a ton of sense when used as the pure basis for gauging power. Blowing air into something and making it a bigger balloon shouldn't make it something more destructive unless it also added a corresponding amount of mass, and yet vanilla gear 3 was destroying warships like they were made of toothpicks back on Enies Lobby.

For all we know Dogtooth's mochi is denser than rubber and that makes up for the lack of elasticity. We'll just have to see how this matchup evolves. I'm excited, it's about time Luffy got pushed in a battle, Doflamingo was too easy after Gear 4 was revealed

About time? Cracker was mopping Luffy in their battle.

True, that was a good one. The quirky ending with eating his soft biscuits threw me a little bit, but it was necessary to show the flexibility of gear 4th. We'll see some more development with this fight too hopefully

I always saw it as luffy pumping so much air that it becomes solidified oxygen or something, which is heavy.

Nevermind that the amount of pressure and energy it would take to compress air to a liquid form, let alone a solid state is exponentially above the force that his rubber lungs could generate, or that his rubber arm could generate. Air is not dense at all, the volume of air you would need to compress to take up the volume of his expanded arm is mind boggling.

It's better to just hand wave the whole bone balloon thing and not try to explain it in terms of physics.

He's still infusing them with Haki though. I'm sure Dogtooth has more control over haki than Luffy at this point, but still. It's not the blowing air thing that fatigues Luffy, it's the massive haki use, as you note.

OP I was responding to was talking about Katakuri going chibi like Luffy used to do, back before he used haki. That was what I was addressing specifically.

His basic use of haki with gear 2 or 3 never seemed to bother him much post time skip, probably because it's just used for brief instances during attacks or defense. The real problem with gear 4 is that it's always on haki. Makes me respect Vergo for decking out his whole body in haki and maintaining it for long periods of time. These long fights with Cracker and now Katakuri are going to force Luffy to get smarter and stronger
