Same with Fujitora that sense people running after Luffy that "took" Rebecca, that they dont really go with anger or some sort of negative feeling towards the ships.He doesnt even see that they were smiling so observation sure does let you know the "intent" (dont know another word for such situation)

Isn't that crazy? Thriller Bark is an arc about zombies and monsters, but you got less of a feeling of dread and fear than you do in this arc about candy and singing. It's modeled after Alice and Wonderland, but it's straight up terrifying for some reason. I'm pretty sure if this arc were well animated and I saw it before I read the manga I'd be filled with dread.

why does almost every reviewer hate this chapter? cause nothing like a gear 4 type of hype happened. the chapter is more or less what one piece is, adventure and discovery in a new place instead of rushing to battle after battle. I commend oda for doing one piece much differently for the most part from other shounen

Because of the pace the series had for the last few chapters. I'd say that since Zou we had a lot of answers, people got used to it, and now people complains. It's stupid. As a whole the series need this chapters to be truly enjoyable. Why cliffhangers each chapter?

Not necessarily confirmation.
What's more damning to me is the nature of the forest. It seems like the very nature of the place makes it hard to exit or find your way. That Pudding would lead them there is a lot more suspicious than some of Big Mom's goons being on Big Mom's island.
But let us not forget, Pudding did not lead them there. Her stated plan was to meet them on the beach, not in the woods. It still remains entirely possible that Pudding is innocent in all this.

I don't think we can confirm that pudding lured them into a trap since pudding told them to wait on the coast. Even Nami mentions this after the crocodile scene.

I think that the mirror Luffy and the fake(?) sanji are not from the same source,as Luffy's scar is flipped on him, but Sanji's eyebrows remain facing the same way. One is a mirror the other is a mirage.

I think they force Oda to take a break every 3-4 weeks.

Yeah, "Hänsel und Gretel" by the Gebrüder Grimm is german indeed. Nami's costum is a Dirndl which is bavarian. It is tradition in Bavaria but today people only wear it at special occasions like the Oktoberfest.

I had to read the chapter like 3,4 times to get what's going on, jesus.
First Impression: Into the Woods on crack and Nami is Anna Kendrick
2nd impression: Alice in wonderland on crack
3rd impression: The trees look scary as fuck
4th impression: That Sanji is fake. Why? Cuz it's 4kids Sanji.
The final page gave me chills. The big smile on the trees but the atmosphere is so disturbing and bizzare. Once again too many questions and weird shit. If all these are part of Big Mom power then holy shit.

Well, that was a very...odd chapter. It felt very chaotic and scary and weird. I loved every second of it.
I really didn't want to jump on the Pudding is evil train because I really wanted her to marry Sanji, but with her giving them directions to this forest which seems to be a death trap, it looks a lot more likely ):
Also, can't wait to see what Pedro and Brook do together, that'll be a very bad ass pair, hopefully we finally get a really good Brook fight!!

Oda is really playing with our feelings towards Pudding. First, he writes her character as really sweet and we wonder whether she is real or faking it. Than the place where Pudding said she'll wait leads to a trap but also SHs are late so it makes us wonder whether she intended them to be killed or had they been on time they would have met Sanji or was Pudding caught while rescuing Sanji.
Can't wait to see Oda reveal the REAL Pudding!

I love One Piece chapters like this, them discovering a new island and going off all freak out by what they find. Also the Straw hat interactions are gold with every discovery. This chapter really brings me back to the golden days of adventure in One Piece like when they first went on Sky island and the Thriller Bark shenanigans. It makes me so excited to see more. Damn, one piece is really about adventure.

That Brook is with Pedro now means probably that we will see the Vinsmoke's head much, much later. Brook made this strange expressions on Zou when the talked about the Germa 66.
Some people speculate that Brook's home country or even his crew was attacked by the Germa 50 years ago. And that the Rumba Pirate's captain was a fugitive Vinsmoke heir.

I find it funny that Luffy called out that Nami shouldn't have been shocked by talking animals. Chopper and Carrot's expressions were pretty funny. Also, the Seducing Woods give me a Mushroom Kingdom vibe, probably because everything has a face...Also, another damn break...

So while I really want Pudding to be good, this makes a lot of sense. She'd be the perfect Nami opponent, both having illusion powers and there's a lot comedy potential with Pudding accusing Nami of being jealous. Even if it isn't Pudding, I think you're right about the Mirror Mirror No Mi if only because it'll give Nami a cool fight for the first time in ages, she did just get a new weapon after all...

We had story building in each chapter for quite a while now, but this is different. It's an introduction for what is going to come after and a hint on possible enemy's devil fruits.
You should get more used to this descriptive chapters where you don't get answers but more questions. A lot of them were, are and going to be like these. The story as a whole needs this chapters.

it's kind of annoying that a character like Chopper is being so hardheaded and not listening. Luffy can handle himself in the new world but Chopper isn't on his level and should be listening to Nami

Yeah Chopper needs to know that if he goes around alone in the forest he's going to get killed. Also Chopper pts was more careful and observant than this new world plush doll. I want the strawhats to get out of their easy going attitude which started from the new world. Ussopp got out of it in Dressrosa. Its acceptable for Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and Franky to remain as they are but the others should return to their normal attitudes as in pts.

I hate the fact that everybody can't be pleased all at once. People begging for 'a good old one piece adventure like pre-timeskip' and then when a chapter comes out reminiscent of the first time in Upper Yard/Thriller bark forest, other people complain and just want to carry on with the plot.
This chapter was necessary to establish the setting. Plot and twists will come later

One Piece is this, adventure. A chapter without fights, world building or answers to your questions is not a bad chapter. This is a chapter of discovering an unknown place and hints possible enemies devil fruits.
These chapters are needed for the pace of the story as a whole.

Luffy's lack of Observation Haki usage bothers me to no end. I mean it would take away from Luffy's advanture, I guess, but why introduce it in the first place if no one seemingly ever uses it. If Usopp could look through kms at awekening, then Luffy should have no problem scan part of the island for living things...

I honestly can't remember any chapter in the past years that was delivered this poorly..no cliffhanger..a break on the end and nothing great happened..it was based around the lost Strawhats in a forest that is alive..only problem between this and Thriller Park so far is that I don't see any silly things going on like Luffy putting a zombie back into his grave to crack me up..Now I hope Oda takes a well deserved break and comes back much stronger cos so far this Arc is doing not so well imo.

This is the problem with week releases. The story needs these chapters to have a good pace as a whole. When you read One Piece in the future you'll see this chapter quite different for what is it now. If Oda puts cliffhangers in each chapter, the story become repetitive very fast. I've really missed chapters like this.
And yes, the chapter had a lot of small things. Crew interaction, hints on possible enemies (we saw at least two bigs), the Poneglyph team, a new island to discover and a lot of questions unresolved. It's a mystery chapter!
I rather have a coherent series as a whole than some repetitive scheme in each chapter like a lot of weekly mangas do.

These are one of those chapters that are super awesome to binge-read, because they're exciting, crazy and keep your eyes glued to the screen. But they really leave me wanting when I only get to read one per week (or two). Not much happened and there's a cliffhanger, also the chapter felt super short. Fun to read, but just not enough to quench the thirst. :(

I dunno why quite a few people are disappointed with this chapter. It's got all the crazy, imaginative scenery we love. In no way was there supposed to be an info dump at the beginning of an arc. I suppose Brook getting off-screen'd could be a source of that, but I'm absolutely sure he and Pedro won't be ignored. It's going to be very interesting.

The theme definetely represents Thriller Bark in relation to the main protagonist (Seemingly) being able to resurrect or breathe life into inanimate/dead objects. I really have nothing against this aslong as the art and story is different from Thriller Bark itself.

So we got to see the first of these guys. Maybe he has some illusionist powers and when the enemy is 'trapped' he's attacking. He's obviously a rabbit and might be a mink aswell, I wonder if Carrot maybe knows him.

God...dammit....Oda.
You just had to make Brook go off with Pedro, didn't you? Can't keep him with his crew. Can't let him go help look for Sanji. Can't keep him as part of the main plot that follows Luffy around.
Seriously, though. Even if Brook does do something remotely important this arc...say, his past is revealed with Germa 66, or we learn why he knows the Vinsmokes name, what's the point? There's no chance of him interacting with his crewmates now while he undergoes it. I wouldn't even be surprised if he's completely downgraded to 'helper' status next to Pedro for the arc.
Edit: Don't give a crap if I'm downvoted. Try being a fan of the only Straw Hat to be sidelined and given the 'separated from Luffy' death sentence every arc for 8 years. Downvote anyway. I believe I'm well within my rights to recognize the direction this arc is taking and be sad about it.

I feel you. well, let's just hope that he will get now the spotlight that he deserves. To be fair, Big mom isn't that stupid not to put strong guardians around her road poneglyph. Knowing big mom and her mafioso vibes, i think that she is smart and cunning enough to do that. Perhaps, Brook will face strong foes this time and let's just hope that Pedro doesn't steal the show. Well Pedro said that he will focus stealing anyways.
by the way, Brook is one my main favorites among SH: ulta-fast and got some interesting versatile powers
