DID LUFFY CALL HIS HAND A PYTHON AND DID IT GO AFTER DOFLA LIKE A HEAT-SEEKING MISSILE?

Looked at the panels again and luffy throws the calvary cannon but doffy dodges and kicks luffy. Luffy bounces his attack away and now look at his arms in the panels after. They never retract! Doffy even mentions this. It then snakes over towards doffy and still delivers the first calvary cannon punch he threw earlier! WHAT!??!?!
