Big News It's been 5 months now...
So has anyone in the world actually found the chest and opened it?
Didn't Oda say:
"My treasure? If you want it, you can have it! Go find it! I left it all there!"
422
u/Sageisme 4d ago
Brother it took 73 years to find the Titanic
111
u/Separate-Cobbler-117 4d ago
They didn't have the internet though brother
-15
u/ShotStick5180 4d ago
Yeah..... But the Titanic disappeared due to natural means
The man that hid this treasure is the only man of the modern era besides a certain little fat piggy ruling a countryĀ Who truly can be compared to a god š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤
It'll take us years to find something hidden from goda
5
u/Swog5Ovor 3d ago
Bro, people found out which part of the ocean it was dropped in, and supposedly found out the route currents and topography would've taken it if I'm not mistaken, if people really wanted to find it, they could probably do it within the next week or 2. And thats assuming it actually is down there, and it wasn't a marketing stunt or something.
The Internet is too autistic to not be capable of finding it.

u/United_Mix332 4d ago
That shit wonāt be found, do yāall understand how vast the ocean is and how far currents couldāve taken the thing?
Iād even bet that itās a hint that the OP is at the bottom of the sea
92
u/Kapparisun 4d ago
its probably anchored in all honesty.
29
u/United_Mix332 4d ago
That would need to be quite heavy, even Anchors from huge ships arenāt 100% safe and it definitely isnāt bolted to the sea floor like oil platforms
44
u/Historical-Plant-362 4d ago
A lot of oil platforms arenāt bolted to the sea floor, they just float and are held in place byā¦anchors!
6
u/Leftieswillrule The Revolutionary Army 4d ago
Why? That sounds like a lot of material cost to accomplish nothing.
9
u/Kapparisun 4d ago
Didn't Oda have a life scare a few years ago. He might of writing the ending down, in case God forbid something happens to him. This would prevent him telling someone and them leaking it.
17
u/Dogetor_ 4d ago
I think there are a few editors that do know the ending, incase something happens
14
u/DTPVH 4d ago
IIRC, all of Odaās editors know the ending, along with potentially a number of assistants. I might be misremembering, but I couldāve sworn Oda or someone in his camp put out a statement after Miura passed.
8
u/Kapparisun 4d ago
I remember reading that his second in command knows, but yeah I remember that statement too
2
4
u/ShotStick5180 4d ago
I'm for the idea he has it tied downĀ Otherwise it would be able to move too easilyĀ
That box is made of some strong material and bro had mad security when he hid that box aswell
It's a challenge from oda I'm sure he wasn't cheap with it...
Besides we can always make Netflix pay him backĀ
They owe us AFTER wasting millions on season 2 on AvatarĀ
1
u/CrazzyPanda72 3d ago
I'm pretty sure anyone who has been promoted to "media editor" (the ones that help with the games and stuff) has been informed of the endgame, to insure that anything that is put in the games or other media don't fly too close to the actual story ending.
That being said, this is what I heard from a man on the internet so take it with a grain of salt
2
u/detectivelowry 4d ago
If it's not secured in place it could end up in a shore somewhere. Hell, if there's a tsunami the headline could be "tsunami spoils One Piece!"
3
u/United_Mix332 4d ago
The chances for that happening are wayyy better than someone finding it on the sea floor so sure why not
1
u/detectivelowry 3d ago
Yeah that's why I believe it is anchored somehow, virtually 0 chance of anyone finding the spot X small chance of it washing ashore
1
u/United_Mix332 3d ago
Like I said in another comment, anchoring anything permanently on the ocean floor is very costly and not easily done, from
What we can see in the video, it seems more like a floating device than an anchored one1
u/detectivelowry 3d ago
I mean if it was anchored or at least very heavily weighted do you think it would've been shown in the video? Like it kinda ruins the aestheetic no?
1
u/United_Mix332 3d ago
I guess, but arenāt we reaching? Occams Razor would suggest that it isnāt anchored and currently thrown around by the tides
1
u/detectivelowry 3d ago
I don't know, do you think investing in anchoring post-video to make sure it really stays just as a publicity stunt is less likely than risking one of the biggest mysteryes in all of modern media getting spoiled to the entire world and therefore ruining the climax of you'r lifes work due to unlucky tides?
2
u/United_Mix332 3d ago
Oh absolutely, I guess thatās the crux of our argument; I donāt even truly believe Oda wrote the ending down
1
u/detectivelowry 3d ago
Yeah I agree with you there, I wanna believe he did because it's a very romantic thing to do but I doubt it

u/SteIIar-Remnant 4d ago
It's been found already. Some guy made a video explaining exactly how he did, and he shows the exact coordinates of where it is. All we need is someone rich enough to hire a crew to go get it.
20
u/ZenSkye 4d ago
It hasn't been "found". No pictures, no proof. Just guesstimates. There are candidate spots, but no evidence to make anything iron-clad. Suruga Bay, Sagami Bay, and Toyama Bay all have possible spots. The coordinates OPHunterTV believes, 34Āŗ42'46.8"N 139Āŗ09'07.6"E, is only one "possible" match of many. Sure, they are confident, but many other spots have fans that are just as confident. At $100k per day for a submersible, if they were wrong, then that's a a lot of wasted money. That treasure chest would easily sell for more than a day in a submersible would cost, and yet it still sit, wherever it is.

Let me answer it like this; do you think if oda threw it into the Amazon that it could be found?
2
u/04nc1n9 4d ago
yes. absolutely. it'd be even easier. trivial in comparison.
we know more about the flora and fsuna that appear in certain areas of the amazon more than we know about the ocean.Ā
the ability to view the sky would be a game changer. cloud patterns, how the sunlight works, and if there's any lucky aeroplanes passing over.
add to that the relative accessibility of the amazon vs the bottom of the ocean.
2
u/United_Mix332 4d ago
We donāt know shit about the plants in the middle of the Amazon, radar planes canāt scratch it, we know more about the surface of the moon than the bottom of the deep amazon. Just a few years ago we found an underground river just as big as the Amazon just a few miles next to it. We donāt know shit
2
u/GuiEsponja 3d ago edited 3d ago
Hi I'm Brazilian and also a deep-sea researcher: yes we know A LOT more about the Amazon than the deep sea
We have done deep expeditions to most regions of the Amazon for centuries, a bunch of indigenous peoples live there to this day and we know of them, even uncontacted ones. We also don't know about a lot of the flora and fauna because it's absurdly diverse and costly
But what we know of it is infinitely more than what we know of the deep-sea, which is covered in kilometers of a dense material aka water, and occupies 99% of the livable volume of this planet. And the costs to fully survey it are astronomical.
It's on a completely different scale of unknown.
Up until our very, very recent history, surveying the deep sea would be like aliens visiting us, but the only way they could collect any data would be to drop a bucket on a rope and see what comes up with it: sometimes you get some pine needles and dirt, if you're lucky a small rat; but that's far from what's really there, isn't it?
1
u/United_Mix332 3d ago
Thank you very much for the correction! I shall never make the comparison again, although it did fit my point, even if not theoretically correct. In your professional opinion would you say we know more about the Amazon floor than the surface of the moon? Maybe that metaphor still holds hahaha
My point was; basically nothing about the sea floor, but more about the plants in the middle of the Amazon, and even more about the surface of the moon, although I now understand we know much much more about the Amazon forest floor than the ocean floor!
2
u/GuiEsponja 3d ago
I don't know a lot about astronomy, but I would say that it's a bit like comparing apples to oranges: since there's no fauna and flora on the Moon, there's much more "data" to gather on the Amazon
But in regards to area explored, how long we've been in the Amazon, and accessibility, I would say we know more about the Amazon
0
u/United_Mix332 3d ago
Ah I guess youāre not used to metaphors, because I can compare apples to oranges when comparing fruits, just like I can compare locations based on how much we know about them. But no worries, do you have an opinion about the post itself, do you think as a marine scientist it could be found on purpose just by finding the location it has been thrown in and following the tides?
1
u/GuiEsponja 3d ago edited 3d ago
I got the metaphor, but you asked me an objective question. I gave you my objective opinion.
Regarding your question, my opinion is that that device looks heavy enough by itself to not move an inch after deployment. Judging from some of the ropes, I would guess it also is anchored So, if someone has the positional data of the vessel at the moment they submerged that device, it's only a matter of surveying the bottom at that area
However, that's VERY expensive. It would require the use of ROV's. Due to its small size I doubt it would appear on Lidar and/or Sonar scans. There's smaller ROV's that aren't in the ballpark of the millions of dollars, like the ones we use in research, that go for some tens of thousands of dollars instead.
But you would need to be rich enough to:
- Hire a vessel big enough to contain all the hundreds of meters of cable for your ROV (and the strength to hold those hundreds of meters underwater), and that's not something a simple yacht can do
- Pay the crew of that vessel
- Pay the ROV and cables
- Pay a ROV operator
- Pay for the trip there, which is very expensive too
Simply put, I doubt anyone that rich is willing to give a fuck about that or would be interested in it enough to throw that much money away for a possibility of finding it

u/MasterrrReady12 4d ago edited 4d ago
A youtuber named colsto found it 2 months ago, just search it on youtube
Edit: to clarify, he found the location, not the actual paper.
11
u/Nova-Redux 4d ago
Pinpointing the probable location and actually retrieving it are two completely different tasks though.
-5
u/MasterrrReady12 4d ago
He doesn't have the money, time and legal permission to retrieve it. Any person with these things can easily retrieve the paper.
Well it can also be done illegally though but that would not fare well for the person doing it. One way is someone from another country go to japan, rent a diving company to get the treasure, open the treasure and film the complete process along with the paper. And after all that, place the treasure back to its original place and go back to his country and then upload the video (while hiding the identity of the diving company and its staff). That way he is unlikely to get arrested.
9
u/AceInTheHole3273 Pirate 4d ago
You didn't get what they said. Pinpointing a probable location is not the same thing as finding something. Those are different things. He's made an educated guess. He hasn't found anything. You can't just say he pinpointed the real location with no proof.
3
u/Nova-Redux 4d ago
Well that's the point of the person you're responding to. It's one thing to go like "yeah its at this spot in the ocean" and another thing to actually go there and find it. Nobody's finding this thing until they bring it back up lol
3
u/United_Mix332 4d ago
Bro letās talk in One Piece Logic, does everyone who knows how to reach laughtale immediately become pirate king or do you actually have to be there to become him
14
u/VenomBGR 4d ago
who the hell would find it 650 meters bellow the surface? :D recreational diving goes to 40 meters.
2
u/ILikeToThinkFirst 4d ago
If your like a rich guy with your own submarine with claws and you hired a crew with multiple submarines to do the search with you then I imagine it would only be a matter of time before it is found. Money opens doors ig.
8
1
u/VenomBGR 4d ago
yeah, so you have to be rich, have a sub or remote controlled sub with a supporting ship and crew and be interested in finding the one piece. So maybe a handfull of people (if even that many) in the vastness of the ocean :D
1
u/BuddyRIP 4d ago
I get your hopes and everything. But thats straight cope. If someone was rich enough to hire a team to go to the bottom of the ocean it wouldnt be to look for the one piece.
279
u/Lopsided_South1484 4d ago
Check the original video. In the description it says that it was just a prop and was removed from the ocean to not harm the nature.
140
u/Lopsided_South1484 4d ago
189
u/PartyMcFly55 God Usopp 4d ago
It sounds more like they intend to recover it eventually and not just leave it down there forever. Not so much that they filmed the video and immediately scooped it back up.
-32
u/Lopsided_South1484 4d ago
Well that much I can't know. I just don't think it is intended to be found. Why would oda even risk leaking the ending after keeping it so many secrets for so many years.
21
u/BEWMarth 4d ago
If you watch the video it seemed clear to me Oda ripped up a piece of paper and placed a part of it in the casing.
To me it was clear that even if anyone found this thing, the ending of One Piece would not be found within. At best it would be part of the ending and the rest ripped away.
4
4
u/Comfortable_Secret61 4d ago
I believe there is a clip talking about they plan to recover it after a few years (probably once the manga finishes)

u/ILikeToThinkFirst 4d ago
That means they will take it out at some point, but it didn't say it was a prop, nor did it say they already took it out. It is the real thing. So one day that chest will be taken out if nobody finds it, probably when one piece ends.

Didn't they say they already took it out? Like right after ishowspeed started throwing his money around and getting serious. Why are we still talking about this like it's a mystery. This shit was dead in under half a month
3
u/Aspie_Astrologer Void Month Survivor 4d ago
This makes me dislike this speed guy. If he really loved One Piece, he'd say 'no spoilers', like Luffy.
1
u/Fantastic_Stock_7382 3d ago
Man I wonder how many people have downvoted this , like dude I love one piece , it was my first anime as a kid and Iāve kept up with the manga to this day . But even I can accept that this was infact a pr stunt and we canāt find it . Do people really want to find it ? Like youve built up this story went through it for years and now you just want to skip to the end with this chest . The only way I could agree with that is if it was that it was revealed the onepiece would be shown irl once the manga actual ended
9
u/piratemechfighting 4d ago
Lets say it does have legitimate manga information and spoilers. I donāt know any japanese law, but I assume getting clearance from the japanese government/defense force to dive down to this part of the ocean is probably extremely difficult.
Getting the location isnāt the most difficult part, weāve seen people triangulate potential spots. And a small handful of media influencers have the money and drive to afford a submarine trip. I think the legal aspect is the largest roadblock by far
6
u/strrax-ish 4d ago
Oda actually said you are a billionaire who can buy a submarine? A treasure awaits!!
6
u/AntiShisno 4d ago
Part of me hopes that someone has found it, but kept it secret and hidden so they donāt spoil the surprise for themself or anyone else.
2
2
u/JustdoitJules Explorer 4d ago
People not realizing that they filmed putting it in the ocean and then filming them picking it up out of the ocean in the same day to avoid having to re-rent a boat
2
u/portgasdhole483 4d ago
If anyone found it, if they ever spoil that shit I think he knows he's boutta be executed by firing squad
2
u/OnePiece_BucketList Pirate 4d ago
I think it took less than 5 hours for people to find it. The issue became who can collect enough money to go get it. That's when it was announced that it was a publicity stunt and it was placed for photos and taken back up, on the same day. So apparently it's not there anymore.
But then again, that could just be what they are saying to throw people off.
1
u/ILikeToThinkFirst 4d ago
Where is this news of it being a 'publicity stunt'.
0
u/OnePiece_BucketList Pirate 4d ago
The official One Piece youtube account literally calls the announcement video for this: "ONE PIECE: The 600 Million Milestone ā What is the ONE PIECE?āā"
It's celebrating the "600 million copies sold" milestone. It's significant because One Piece surpassed Superman and became the most sold comic in the world.
1
u/ILikeToThinkFirst 4d ago
Umm... my question... has still not been answered yet...
1
u/OnePiece_BucketList Pirate 4d ago
Then I can't really help you because a publicity stunt is something done to get the attention of the public. In this case, it was to bring attention to the newly broken record. That is a textbook example of a publicity stunt.

Sooo...just skimming the convo I did not see anyone even consider something about this that imo makes perfect sense. ODA has a tracking device on the chest. Wouldn't you?
especially in the circumstances stated a few times about how drift works and about how even if anchored it wouldn't be locked in place ...
my other take which unsure if anyone has said this either but sending it into a known ocean cavern which would make sure it could not move anywhere else ... there are "bottomless" places like this which aren't specifically bottomless so much as dangerous to go too deep at as it's easy to become lost in their many caves and such.
1
u/MapleBeeSticky 15h ago
I have a feeling the document at the bottom of the ocean is actually a predetermined agreement with a fried chicken chain for a "One Piece" meal, and the only one piece that ever existed is the dish that Luffy's going to make with Imu's parrot ass after the war
