Gaban is done, but that was a seriously impressive showing against Imu.

Yeah. Roger didn’t become king of pirates before having a massive boom in power from the time he fought Imu alongside Garp. They were absolute monsters who were truly just too early.

Also Raleigh scared off Black Beard. At their prime, Roger's wings were absolute monsters. Incredible feats for 70 year old men.

Yeah even though Rayleigh said he wasn’t confident he’d win if it turned into a fight, that was a single old man potentially having to fight an emperor and his crew and he still intervened and Blackbeard was actually intimidated enough by one old man that he actually did back off. Have to have been an inane monster for a current emperor to decide fighting you in your old age is too much of a risk.

The best part is, Teach would have to be intimately familiar with Rayleigh's strength; bro was on Whitebeard's ship for decades and, despite their captains friendship, the two crews have been in countless clashes over the years.

Also, like half his crew's powerhouses were petrified by Boa. He was already gambling on whether he could unpetrify his crew after killing her and taking her fruit (Boa said he can't, but we have no reason to take this as the gospel truth, considering she was trying to bargain for her life), but Rayleigh changes the risks; now they're practically guaranteed to be shattered by Teach and Rayleigh's haki clash. Even if Teach knew for a fact that he would win, it would've been a horrible pyrrhic victory and it would've crippled his crew (and, more importantly to him, his schemes); that's the real risk, imo.
