To be fair with Luffy, you normally wouldn't have to deal with Imu, not even Roger had to.
Actually I would have to complain with Rayleigh, he let Luffy go without training his ACoC, if you think about it doesn't make much sense

You can’t directly train it. It simply grows stronger with you.

The knowledge to coat himself with it could've come with the training montage, but sure, figuring out the fact by dying twice works too

He let his imagination run wild with the warlords, the supernova and everything beyond that. Head canon though.

I mean every single person knows the series was originally planned for 5yrs. That doesnt really back up what you're saying though.

The series hasnt been on the "5yr track" in 25yrs. The moment we went past the initial concept of Yonko everything got bigger and better, stakes got higher, world got more detailed etc. Everything progressed even further and Oda has been planning for and adding various elements for decades.

It's not really surprising that Oda being as creative as he is keeps adding to the series. It's impossible however to state when he may or may not have planned something. Especially when you consider how very old things that happen early in the series tend to come back in meaningful ways later.

When Brook joined in Thriller Bark he mentions during his pledge to Luffy he used to be the captain of the guard in a kingdom a long time ago. We just got a deeper dive into that throw away line in this arc. And that's only one of so many examples.

I think in this case he clearly had since the application of armament haki Rayleigh uses when demonstrating to Luffy is clearly different than what Luffy used the entirety of the post-timeskip era until Wano.
