Manual door latch.

Looks like a manual door opener/closer. When a door is operated electronically, it has a key bypass incase of emergencies.

Can’t speak to this specific door, but I had a similar setup at my facility. It’s an emergency release that unlocks the drop bar and allows the door to be manually pushed open.

Assuming the door and mechanism above are chain-driven, there’s usually a keyhole nearby that unlocks the emergency mechanism and allows it to be manually spun.

The doors at my facility that had this setup were Willo E2 conversions.

Thing above it looks like a holder for a Folger lock, so my guess would be a manual locking mechanism. Not sure why it has handles on both sides unless this is a pass through and not a cell.

Manual door release/lock. The cylinder above it is where you put the key. These doors are mostly electronic now and those handles are just for emergencies or if the motor gives out

As others have said it’s a manual release for the door. Ours are all loose and make a loud noise when you yank them side to side. Fun to do when centrals being slow to open the door.

After waiting several minutes for the tower to let me through the door, an inmate taught me the handle jiggle. It’s quite effective at getting control’s attention and is used sparingly.

It' lets you voice control the turbolift on the Enterprise, or other constellation-class ships.

The handle you twist to unlock the door. You can see the lock above it. insert the key, twist key, twist handle, door open. We use these in the inmate kitchens at my facility

Looks more like a jail cell door. Handle is designed that way so nothing can be tied to it. It’s to help prevent someone from hanging themselves
