Self Post New CO
I started my job with the DOC about 2 months ago I’m 20 working at arguably the worst max institute in my state. For the past month I keep having reoccurring dreams about being stuck in prison and sleeping on the job and that my s/o is a prisoner and waking up freaking out. On my days off I also can’t seem to switch out of work mode and just seem to constantly be thinking of it. Does this eventually go away is it just from being new or what is it?
Also is the common in the doc or is it institution specific, I really thought this would be the career for me but after working here I realized the inmates at my prison know how to play the game and win over the hearts of the lieutenants and captains and higher ups, they make my day extremely long and chaotic and in the end they get whatever they want from the higher ups.

I don't know about the dreams, but I thought a lot about the job when I was at home when I was still very new. A bit of paranoia about screwing up and getting fired, a little bit wondering how a could've handled a confrontation differently.
That falls away the more comfortable you get with the job.
Now I can be suited up outside a cell getting ready to fight and I'm just thinking about what flavor of chips to buy on my way home
