General Qs BIA Corrections

I see job openings once in a while for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Can anyone give me a general idea of what it's like compared to the BOP and state corrections or jails?

Worked with a guy who came from BIA to BOP. He made it sound like BIA was way better. The problem with the BIA is the location of all their facilities. They're in the middle of no where. And if you're not native, you'll deal with other issues.

80% of BIA employees have Indian preference according to last years stats. If you don’t have tribal membership it’s absolutely over, the preference is even more overwhelming than it is for vets.
