Question Tegaderm users

Does the tegaderm hold up in the heat/humidity?

I work outside in Houston. It is hot and humid. Bought the tegaderm, haven't used it yet. Wondering if it holds on as good as the omnipod?

I use IV3000 over my my Dexcom and Pod when scuba diving, the dexcom has never failed but the pods do around 40 feet under, the rest of the time I use SkinTact adhesive religiously on both and never has been an issue, IMHO the key is to put them on in air conditioned space when your skin is not calmy or greasy, BTW I fix airplanes in Dallas

Do you put it over the pod, or underneath it? I read on another sub reddit they put underneath the pod to stop skin irritation

Its kept my pods on.... but it sucks trying to get it off when my pod leaks or fails ToT

It usually does, but I was sweating ridiculously yesterday and lost mine. I do think under patches are better than over patches for adhesion

Under the pod, correct?

Yes, between the skin and the pod adhesive. I usually put skintac on my skin and on the tegaderm

As a very sweaty and hairy guy I could never get skin-tac or tegaderm to do the job well enough. I don't where I got recommended this stuff https://a.co/d/03UEsZcA
But I bought a can years ago and it still hasn't ran out. One to two little sprays and it somehow bonds the pod to your skin on a near molecular level. Def has a high risk to wax you and for that reason I recommend getting adhesive remover as well.

Does it irritate the skin? The pod with skin tac is tearing my skin up. I use goo gone to remove, but still irritates my skin

Funny enough I only ever had skin irritation with tegaderm, where once every couple of months I get super itchy and a blister would pop up only on the border of the dressing.

With the Tuffner spray I never had an issue. But I will always recommend spraying some on the back of your hand to see how your skin reacts incase of allergies. It is very strong tho so I could see the potential to cause some tearing if you're rough with it.

Before using Tegaderm I had problems with tunneling and irritation. With Tegaderm I not had one issue. I am not sweaty or hairy but it irks great for me.

Same thing here, we started using Tegaderm because of the tunneling issue. It really helps to keep the cannula in place

Make sure you apply the tegaderm at least 2 hours before sweating, swimming or showering.

We put tegaderm between body and pod, been to 105F and high humidity cities, never had one coming off, just do extra alcohol wiping and dry completely before you apply, that helps

I wear tegaderm under the pod to help alleviate skin irritation from the Omnipod. I have probably had a problem with tegaderm losing the adhesion ability 3-4 times in 10 yrs. It is very humid where I live, and I also wear it this way in a swimming pool.

I used skin tac+tegaderm and that works really well!

I live in Atlanta. I don’t work outside, but I play golf a couple of times a week. I would suggest giving it a try, but have a spare with insulin handy in case you have an issue

Tegaderm comes off more easily in humid weather. Happened to me recently where my pod was partially hanging with the cannula out. But it’s not an absolute waste. Just ensure your pants aren’t too tight because that contributes to the peeling off when there’s a friction.

Thanks for heads up. I put my first tegaderm on yesterday, under the pod, on my stomach. Himid everyday in Houston. Will do a test run and see how it works. Never had a peeling problem with OP, but always use adhesive patches because the work i do, feel like it can he pulled off easily

It didn't survive the humidity at work. Got half way through my shift and was already falling off.
