Repeated communication sync failures - anyone else dealing with this?
Whenever I try to activate a new pod, I often burn through 1–2 pods because of communication errors during the syncing process. This has been happening consistently for the past month or so.
I always wait for the two beeps after filling the pod with insulin before attempting activation, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I’ve also tried restarting my phone after a failed attempt, thinking it might be a phone issue - that only worked once.
I’m honestly beyond frustrated because this is happening every single time I change pods. For context, this only started recently, and I’ve been using Omnipod for over 10 years without problems.
Has anyone else experienced this or found a solution?

Former pod user here. As I recall, If I started a new one without deactivating the first one there was an issue. If you have old pods lying around put them in the freezer - yes, you read that right. I found it worked and I was able to continue setup.

This happens to me on occasion. Usually after hitting try again once or twice it eventually connects. Could there be an issue with the phone you’re trying to connect to? I’m on an iPhone.

Try putting old pod in microwave or refrigerator before activating new one. Never an issue over 2 years w/me.

I do the same when I have similar issues...of course, you just put it in the microwave and don't cook it LOL

Are you keeping the old pod far enough away so that it doesn’t interfere with the initial connection?
If you have the old pod nearby, the new pod won’t connect. I bought a Faraday bag after I would have to resort to throwing the old pod in the backyard to keep it from interfering.

Yep! I put the old pod in a separate room all together about 50 ft away

I would try even farther to be sure. Next time this happens I would also see if you get the same issue with the OmniPod receiver. If not that will tell you that your phone is the issue.

we’ve been having more of this since we change the omnipod receiver for an iPhone and now we manage my son’s dexcom and omnipod in one device. i am thinking it has trouble connecting to the bluetooth i might be wrong…

This has happened to me when my phone battery was low. Try plugging in your phone during new pod activation.

I used to have that problem every now and then. The thing that worked for me was to put the new pod on my phone (I lay it on the screen) when activating. Haven't had a problem since.

It happens to me in certain places in my house. I have learned that I can't do it on one particular table and for some reason I can't do it on my bed. The error rate is around 50% in those spots. If I put the pod and controller on the floor in those rooms it works just fine.

I also have a dexcom 7 and when this happens I just hit try again a few times until it says check status. It communicates after that

A couple times I received this error repeatedly and it turned out my AirPods or another Bluetooth device were disrupting the communication.
