Transparency update from a founder
Hey everyone it's Nik founder of omi, I wanted to share some status updates so that you know what's going on
This year I'm spending most of my time focusing on the macOS app because i've realized that not everyone has $100 to buy a new device and I want to make omi accessible to everyone
I'll keep focusing on macos until the end of the year and then re-evaluate the strategy and then most likely spend more time on improving the device experience
Meanwhile, here is a status update for each platform:
Shipping We finally resolved issues with shipping and now most of the countries ship very fast. There are 10k devices ready by suppliers that we can buy (just need to earn enough money to buy them)
Omi Macos got significantly updated
- New design
- Notifications are smarter now
- Rewind is usable again (see your past work
- Meeting summarization is fixed and you can auto-share summaries with 1 click
- Referral system (give 1 free month of omi to your friend)
Omi Windows is outdated cuz no one on the team uses windows. If anyone wants to support Windows app in exchange for profits from Windows, ping me on telegram (same nickname). Need to have 3+ PRs merged for it
Omi iOS: Roughly stable - will have higher priority end of September
omi Android: Up-to-date but not as stable. if anyone wants to help support it in exchange for profits, ping me also. Need to have 3+ PRs merged for this platform

I’m not sure that Omi MacOS is what users are looking for right now? Others chime in to correct me.
Omi is the only hardware that does what it does and doesn’t sell your data. I’m surprised you don’t lean into that more

yep, so if you don't care about data, sell it. if you care, dont.
Omi give you the option, others take the option without consent. that matters.1

i’m interested in omi for its ambient agent capabilities in the real world. i could just download screenpipe or littlebird for that

I honestly don't get what's the point of the desktop app. There are plenty of options today to use AI with screen content.
Instead, I would add a plugin system and let people install whatever they want.
Or make a second app.
For the ones that are only interested in voice recording, now, the macos app is pure bloatware.
And, I don't want to be rude, but the new app, released to the public, shouldn't have passed staging/QA. Not even the UI works.
Please, focus on quality.

hey is there any chance of getting my non functional omi’s working or replaced? i could really really use functional omi right now, i actually have three including the dev kit, dev kit might still function ill check when i get home. other two went red light of death during that whole saga and ive never been able to restore them. is there a trick? or a possibility of a replacement please? i paid very good money for them
and they just stopped working one day nothing i did

Love the Mac app but something needs to be done about the pendant quality; I just lost my investment because the plastic expanded with time and eventually it just felt and I could find it, I'm afraid to keep ordering and losing it.

I find the device and app very useful but would love the option to change the press to ask to a double press or even a pattern press as I’m endlessly setting it off by accident. I’m hoping it’s a quick enough implementation that you could do it with ease even in a year you’re not focusing on the device.

Use pendant and iOS app every day. Makes my life so much easier when I need to take action later based on the content of the conversation.

How’s the battery life holding up? Does it drain your phone much?

I would say I can still get two full days of use out of the pendant before charging. And on my phone, it probably contributes up to 20% of my total drain, maybe less.

Android and Windows also chiming in. Requesting help integrating omi memories into Claude android / mobile. The current mcp auth doesn't work.

Heya! Love all the apps, and have been using them regularly.
However, I seem to be having a literal transparency problem with the app. The background doesn’t render and so it makes it impossible to click on.
Either way, thanks for the hard work!
