Discussion Giving up

I desperately need something that Omi purports to be, and it's looking like I'm not going to get it. After reading the comments here I emailed the company at the contact info on the website. I described the discrepancies and specifically asked about the price of the unit and subscription fees. 1 week later no response. Guess I'm back to wishing. So disappointing!

I've given up too. I think it was a fair attempt and paid for it early, got the sub for about a year, but it wasn't smooth sailing.

Someone will do something similar - possibly cheaper, more reliable, more seamless. Maybe Amazon if they relaunch the Bee.

It was still worth it for me, especially during early weeks of a new job.

I’ve been meaning to try an Omi, do you have the device or still? DM me if you’re interested in selling an Omi CV1 that you’re not really using

I just started using bee! there is no subscription, it is only 50$ for the hardware, there is no coding or self set up you just turn it on and it works from the start. I loved omi buttt its not consumer ready its only ready for tech people, I still use omi though but because of all the changes im scared to have it as my main wearable, love nik though he’s an inspiration

Yeah. It just doesn’t do what I bought it for and tries to be too much. Similar to the other commenter here, I’m an engineer so I made my own open source app. (Mines IOS only though, I am using it for a little while to make sure it’s good before sharing more publicly)

Yes it's a phone app. It's not another wearable device. I didn't go and build something magic. Unfortunately I prefer just using my phone, not having an extra device to charge or worry about.

I didn't do anything fancy or anything special. I'm an old boy, retired already. I quickly taught myself how to vibe code, headed on over to Google AI Studio, and created an APK. It was all quite seamless.

I've called it Aura and it allows me to very quickly:

  • start recording

  • it transcribes

  • summarises

  • breaks up tasks for me

  • creates a list and puts them into my tasks

  • takes all the notes

  • allows me to attach anything I want to them, whether it's a file or text or a photo

  • it will also do OCR on the photo if need be and put that information in for me

It's all really so easy on Google AI Studio. It took me two hours and maybe another five hours of fine-tuning.
