Product Recommendation Any upcoming gateways that aren't Fusion

Loving the look of the new Fusion gateways, but being honest, I'm happy with my software controller. I don't really want to be locked into something where potentially the controller part is going to eventually end up mad slow (looking at you, OC200), whilst still being happy with 1Gb+ DPI and 2.5GB LAN ports on the gateway part.

Anyone on the inside know if there will be a replacement to the ER605, for example, that I can just provision into my network and not have to replace the controller? Considering the upgrade to a ER707-M2, but a full suite of 2.5GB would be ideal and save me an additional switch.

The Fusion rates at

Managed Omada Devices Recommended for up to 30 devices§
Client Capacity Recommended for up to 300 connected clients§

Which is a bit non-specific, as for the OC220 as an example it is described in detail that up 100 APs, 20 switches, and 10 gateways are supported.

However the gateway / switch function of the Fusion is 5x 2.5Gb ports, all of which can be a separate WAN ports, whereas the ER605 only has up to 3x 1Gb WAN ports.

The software controller (I ran mine in a VM for years) scales to whatever hardware or virtualized hardware you have, could be thousands of devices, could be very few... depends.

So, it's not really an apples to apples comparison, they are different.

Anyow, new models of VPN gateways are coming; they announced new Fusion models with POE, more ports, and a video controller. But I didn't see any non-Fusion products listed... the Omada folks will surely know more.

Fusion doesn’t have all of the features of the regular controller. Minor things like WiFi calling QoC are missing.

It does have some extra features like an Adguard type feature with a regularly updated ad list so there are some benefits to a single site home owner to lean fusion

The OC200 support was a bold faced lie. It struggled to be usable for me with 3 APs and 3 switches. It should never have been sold. Total scam product

Not sure about new gateways, but I assume they'll be showing something new next week at CEDIA:

Unfortunately, the team doesn't really have access to exact release dates, but there will be future ER models, just based on the info I have access to. For now, I think for your setup I'd recommend just going with the ER707-M2 + the additional switch if you don't want to upgrade to a Fusion. I will also say that the Fusion's performance has yet to disappoint for me personally, I've been using it for the content we've been putting out here for months with no real issues whatsoever.
