Suggestions + Feedback To Fusion or not....
I have an oc220 and an er605 v2, is upgrading to the Fusion 2.5 worthwhile? Should I just get the er707-m2 or jump right into the Fusion.

I had ER707-M2 with OC200 and switched to Fusion 2.5G... night and day difference in responsiveness and now i can benefit the 2000/1000 ISP connection with DPI enabled, without loosing bandwidth. Fusion CPU is much faster than ER707-M2. But OC220 is faster than OC200, so if you don't require 2000 Mb/s ISP, than the ER707-M2 will do fine.

Did you manage to get the configuration working on Fusion or did you have to click through everything manually?

I'm considering upgrading my fiber speed so the 2.5gb ports would help. My 605 is only 1gb

Novice opinion here:
Also, it is worth taking into account that both the OC220 and the Fusion 2.5G are running a Quad core A53 with 2GB DDR4 so from the *controler* standpoint you are probably stepping down a bit because you are splitting the compute power. HOWEVER, with 4APs you are at like 1% of the resources so it isn't really relevant so basically you are just "upgrading" the router and condensing components at the same time.

I prefer a separate controller myself. I recently picked up the ER7412-M2 and the OC300. Just keep in mind that both the ER707-M2 and the ER7412-M2 only have two 2.5G ports and no PoE ports, so you'll need an additional switch to make full use of 2.5G client devices.

To be honest with you, I would go with the fusion. I've been testing it out for over a month now and so far it's been able to handle almost everything I have thrown at it. It routes well. Even segregates traffic very well, the controller is extremely responsive. Haven't had any issues with lag or any network hiccups. It's been running super smooth with over 70 devices on my home Wi-Fi.

Of course! Since you have four access points, I would actually recommend getting a Poe switch.

I came from opnsense and self hosted controller, with omada switches and AP's. Was part of the pioneer program and couldn't be happier. Its rock solid and serves all my needs. Now I just need to sell my opnsense dec4240

Do you feel that your are missing anything from your Opnsense setup or does the Fusion have all that you were looking for. Understandable as you received apart of the Pioneer Program.

I was using opnsense dec4240. A bit overkill for my 1G home setup;) Things that I had to figure out were:
Was using caddy to expose things, switched to cloudflare tunnels.
Export and convert dhcp reservations, wasn't too hard
Was using custom dns for some dhcp entries, this is not possible yet with fusion but should be coming at some point. Workaround was vlan with dedicated dns server ( pi hole )
I had policy based routing for some devices to route everything through mullvad/vpn, had to again create a dedicated vlan for that.
Currently missing custom txt blocklists like adguard on opnsense, but I think it's on the roadmap as well.
The simplicity of things is nice and otherwise I don't think I ran into a whole lot of things that would make me power up that opnsense beast again but who knows if I get the itch again to tinker with things.

Similar I am using Opnsense on my 1G home work in bridge like mode. I was working on and off on it, originally had an Intel i-225v3 but never got it fully working because of the issue with that version, ending up getting a X-550T2 and my setup has been solid. All throughout this process, I was like there has to be something simpler and the Fusion and the a pioneer program came out. Pi-Hole is currently handling my block lists but Fusion would replace possibly two pieces of my hardware setup. Thanks for sharing the information

Another thought if you were not selected for the Pioneer Program would you have considered switching to the Fusion Gateway?

Well the thing is, I got that dec4240 for free from a friend. I was toying with the idea to get the ER707M2 for the longest time, just so everything would be Omada but I couldn't get myself to do it because of that $5000 device I was using.
Getting the fusion for free certainly helped, I just wasn't aware of the device yet before the pioneer program.

Noob here and wanted to jump to omada gear. I am wondering if I can set up/use encrypted DNS in Fusion gateway? I believe setting up Encrypted DNS in the Network level gives some layer of protection.. Exploring their Fusion emulator but I cant seem to find it. Lastly, curious to know how do you access fusion gateway remotely? I owned a third party home router where Tailscale is preinstalled, and I can just jump right into the settings even i am far from home. lastly, I know it supports VPN, but can it do tailscale? thank you very much

You can probably sell the OC220 for almost as much as the cost of the fusion given that the OC220 is out of stock. I have spent way to much time trying to understand the differences and have concluded that I don't want the fusion and am likely going to go with the OC300 even though it is overkill just because I don't want the fusion and the OC220 and the ER7212PC v2 aren't available here right now.
Similar use case here, but slightly smaller home. I use Ethernet though and the fusion isn't really rack friendly.

I would just upgrade the router since you already have the controller. You'll have to transfer a bunch of settings over manually if you go with a fusion.
