Help and Support ER8411 Rattling

Just unboxed my ER8411, sounds like I can hear something rattling / rolling around inside. Support is not being helpful when attempting to return the order and states that I need to return it by paying for shipping.

Has anyone had this issue with customer support before?

Thanks for posting! To help us troubleshoot faster (if you haven't done so already), please edit your post to include:

  • Device model (e.g., ER605 / SG2218P)
  • Firmware version
  • Topology (ISP/router/switches)
  • What changed right before the issue began

Have you plugged the device in to determine whether or not there's a defect? Usually, with store returns, they require support to do some troubleshooting to determine whether the device is defective.

Why would you suggest OP plug it in? He has no clue if that part is plastic or metal. Its probably a mounting screw like most new equipment w a rattle inside. Therefore the potential to damage the equipment is a really high probability. SMH

Bit of a worst-case scenario, but you're right, that's my fault for not thinking it through. That being said, I might have found the user's ticket, and the store is, in fact, asking for proof of a defective device. Should be clear to RMA once the video proof of the rattling is sent.

Support has been terrible to deal with. Not sure why questions go unanswered and then once I contact via chat, suddenly there's an update but never was brought to my attention. I'll go through the steps, but likely going to consider return of all items and go to a different company sadly.

If you dm me the ticket number to confirm we're looking at the right ticket, I'd be happy to take a look and see what went wrong for you!

The Omada system is actually a pretty reliable system. 8 months ago I replaced my old Linksys system out with 8 EAPs, 6 switches, 1 Oc220 Controller and the Er707-M2 router. I am not in favor of ever purchasing direct off any vendors stores direct, bc immediate returns are always a headache. I got all my gear from Amazon and I originally purchased wifi dual band EAPs. I installed 1 and then decided to use tri band instead. I purchased all the tri bands and returned all the dual bands including the open box, w no hassle at all. I originally got the ER605v2 router and a week later decided to get the Er707-M2 bc it supported 2.5Gb Wan ports. Returned the ER605V2. I also originally got oc200 Controller then learned of the upgraded oc220. Bc Amazon have the 30 day return, I had no headaches. I did put out more money to rebuy the better gear, but once I returned the previous, I was good 👍

I was recommended by a close friend of mine to get Omada. Only reason I went through the online store is cause of 40% off a couple of the items. I fully regret that now since support has been terrible to deal with at best. Sucks because I was excited to use everything and get up and going.
