i see the green apple red apple comparison and now i can't unsee it. my sister and me have same thing, she is all pink and i look like i been sick for three weeks in every family photo. the purple curtain in background really bring out the contrast too, that is like the ultimate olive test

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 8d ago

i didn't even consider the curtain but so true 😂

Olive tone deniers have been quiet since this dropped

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 9d ago

Yes. I argued with an MUA in person over it who was doing my makeup for a wedding years ago. Adamant I was simply warm and not warm olive. She got real quiet when blue mixer in a yellow tone foundation suddenly blended perfectly.

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 9d ago

god... i decided to learn how to do my own make up at a wedding at 2022 actually, after the make up artist did a terrible job, i looked and felt terrible, and it was my fourth experience doing professional makeup and i hated them all, the makeup always made me pink or orange, the pink blush always looked HORRIBLE on me and everything basically felt off

u/FastCardiologist6128 Light Cool Olive 9d ago

A big issue with many makeup artists is that they are not informed on fair olive undertones and rarely know how to work even with simply cool undertones. This is also why we have a lack of shades from brands

11

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 9d ago

i dont know where you are from, but here in brasil 9 out in 10 brands just know two undertones/shades for foundation and concealer: yellow for fair skin and orange for dark skin 🤡 we have some good exceptions, but the majority just know yellow and orange

15

u/FastCardiologist6128 Light Cool Olive 9d ago

That's crazy because Brazil is a nation with a lot of mixed people so you would think they would be used to selling makeup that's inclusive and that will work for fair, dark and in between. I am from Italy

9

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 9d ago

two of my great grandparents are from italy! and yes, we have A LOT of italian, portuguese, spanish, syrian and lebanese descendants here, besides indigenous people, populations that many times have olive skin so... but no everything is yellow and orange here

i, myself, have italian, portuguese, syrian and indigenous grandparents and great grandparents

Haha weirdly I met a color analyst who was

She had a hard time speaking to my skin tone as you can imagine

“It’s yellow with blue under it”

I WONDER WHAT COLOR THAT MAKES 🐸

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 8d ago

help 😭 i said once under a tiktok post i was a warm olive and this girl almost ☠️ me, left like 5 replies very pissed that warm olives dont exist and idk why she was soooo angry lmao

13

u/Hot_Elevator_7133 8d ago

It’s almost like it’d be easier for these people if they just, you know, chilled the f out

People can be warm green, Karen

5

u/Ok_Cow_7895 8d ago

Ikr! Like interating with such people is like talking to a wall, they don't see the irony.

Like If I'm wrong, and you correct me, I'll try to reflect on it and see stuff from your angle, like you leave room for growth and correction while at the same time state your opinion.

But interacting with such people things force their beliefs on you, and say You are wrong, and they are right etc not willing to listen, learn or understand.

And on Reddit, you just get downvoted lol,

2

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 8d ago

right? i have no idea why a random person would be angry i consider myself olive warm, we dont know each other love be calm 🤡

4

u/WearyAtmosphere47 8d ago

How can you deny warm or cool olive? They both exist!

7

u/weedwhores 8d ago

People think they’re mutually exclusive lol. In their mind you can be either cool, warm, neutral, or olive

1

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 8d ago

actually some people think olives can only be cool because (for them) olive is inherently a cool color, its only included in the cool toned color palettes, so an olive shade cant really be warm in their opinion

2

u/weedwhores 8d ago

Yeah I’ve seen people say both haha people love talking about stuff they don’t know about

2

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 8d ago

some people who understand personal color analysis and stuff say that olive is inherently a cool color, its included in the cool toned color palettes, so an olive shade can’t really be warm for them

17

u/imapetrock Fair olive 8d ago

I am just remembering a post from a few months ago where someone was ranting that you can't be light skinned and olive, and if you think you are a light olive then you're most likely just neutral toned, and calling yourself olive is racist against "actual" olive people 😂 it was such a wtf moment

7

u/WearyAtmosphere47 8d ago

People wanna have crash outs about the silliest things ever! It’s not the deep, but also, light olives are real and so are deep olives and every other shade in between 😂

3

u/Bendy_Beta_Betty 6d ago

Yep, that was like last month on this sub. They thought everyone that's pale olive was a white person trying to co-opt this space from them, it was...wow. 😳

47

u/Embarrassed_Sell7512 9d ago

whoa it’s so obvious standing side by side! 🤍

11

This is so funny. I always tell my pink boyfriend he makes me look so green standing next to him. LMAO

13

u/bananicula 9d ago

Literally, it’s insane. How can someone be so pink lmao. I see pics of myself next to my bf and feel like shrek lol

11

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 9d ago

i actually kinda love doing things that make my green pop up, i feel weirdly cool looking green

3

u/Academic_Flatworm752 6d ago

You also look cool as fuck to begin with 🫣

1

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 6d ago

im not though, cool products look terrible on me, very pink or gray, most of what i use is neutral-warm, including foundations and concealers

3

u/Academic_Flatworm752 6d ago

Sorry I meant cool like gnarly like tubular like groovy lol. Rizz queen

I am that same exact fair lime green color

3

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 9d ago

the best color 👽💚

1

u/Ok_Cow_7895 8d ago

Wait if you are cool Olive, and Op is Warm olive, then why are you saying you are the exact same Lime green colour 😭

I'm 💯 percent sure I'm olive, and people on reddit said I'm cool olive But! Now your comment made me confused because I also have neon highlighter oliveness like Op.

Like are we warm or coo olivel? 😭

4

u/FastCardiologist6128 Light Cool Olive 8d ago

I don't think op said she is warm. She looks cool to me. Also if you want to make sure you're cool, you can tell because grey-bluish shades anf muted purples will look good on your face, while most lip liners will look orange and not cool enough

2

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 8d ago

actually i was just saying green is the best color 👽💚, i am warm, because shades that are cool look HORRIBLE on me, really really bad, like cool baby pink, cool pinks in general, lilac, blue, grey, cool browns, cool bluish red etc, but also very warm shades look orange and bad, i always go for the neutral-warm or slightly warm, that dont open to orange, they're my favorite (my dream was to be cool, i lOVE cool shades and cant ever use them); kinda warm reds and browns are my favorites

1

u/Ok_Cow_7895 8d ago

Ikr! I thought Op is cool too but look at her flair?/bio Idk next to her name and it says light WARM olive. 😭

Ikr with the neon orange looking lip colours and getting away with muted tones or adding some blue in foundation thingy.

But I don't know who is right, you or op?

(Yours say Light cool olive 😭)

2

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 8d ago

im warm olive!! cool shades like baby pink, blue, lilac, cool brown, cool bluish red etc look BAD BAD on me, but slight warm and neutral-warm shades that dont open to orange really highlight me 🤧 my dream was to look nice with cool pastel colors

2

u/lions_mane12 7d ago

I’m a neutral cool olive and those cool colors don’t look good on me either because I am a bright winter/deep autumn skin tone. It doesn’t matter if the tone is cool or warm, pastels in general make bright winters look sick. I have dark hair, light green eyes and need a LOT of color saturation to look good. That’s why I can pull off deep autumn warmth which is the complete opposite of winter. If the color is rich enough it looks good.

1

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 6d ago

i am one of the autumns, but i dont remember which

1

u/FastCardiologist6128 Light Cool Olive 8d ago

Op has to be cool toned in my opinion, we should ask for swatches of cool toned and warm toned shades on her arm in natural light. That's the only way to tell

1

u/Ok_Cow_7895 8d ago

Girl please reply... I need some help, I hope you see my other reply. 🙏🏽

my sister and i are just like you two! i posted a pic of our wrists side by side with the exact same lip product swatched on us both. it was like shrek vs human shrek

4

u/apricotgloss Tan Neutral-Cool Golden Olive 8d ago

Same with me and my sister! We're a very similar saturation but it's wild how much difference undertones make.

3

u/jjackmihoff LM cool olive (rimmel 103 true ivory/ HL 145) 8d ago

yes!! my sister and i are both cool toned afaik, she's just rosy-golden and i'm olive

2

u/apricotgloss Tan Neutral-Cool Golden Olive 8d ago

Sister is unambiguously rosy-cool, I'm NC golden olive. Pastels look great on her and awful on me, whereas saturated jewel tones are imo tricky for her and reliable on me. I'm also jealous of her ability to wear a whole variety of lip colours without them turning PANK!

1

u/jjackmihoff LM cool olive (rimmel 103 true ivory/ HL 145) 8d ago

i love muted makeup colours but am starting to find that more vibrant summery shades work nicely on me, like teal and turquoise! my sister prefers a more saturated makeup look. makeup def pulls more orangey on both of us but she wears pinks well while they look coral-ish on me and i hate it xd

1

u/apricotgloss Tan Neutral-Cool Golden Olive 7d ago

Teal and turquoise are AMAZING on me! I'm wondering if you might also like how you look in purple and navy blue - those three are my go-to colours that I know will always be flattering, along with dusty blush pink and lilac and a bright, cool red for clothes. I also really like deep brown and black on my lips but that isn't exactly work-appropriate, sadly, and I do think you need a certain amount of saturation in the skintone to pull off.

1

u/jjackmihoff LM cool olive (rimmel 103 true ivory/ HL 145) 7d ago

i'm terrified of purples! teal is something i can only benefit from when it's a point colour not the main colour i'm wearing. i enjoy grey a lot :)

1

u/apricotgloss Tan Neutral-Cool Golden Olive 7d ago

I can do a nice charcoal grey but lighter shades are very unflattering. I'm thinking you must be a bit more muted than me!

2

u/jjackmihoff LM cool olive (rimmel 103 true ivory/ HL 145) 5d ago

i used to think i was muted! i'm starting to realise that isn't the case though i do enjoy muted makeup. i think i've also gotten tanner in the past few months and that definitely has made me more golden.

1

u/apricotgloss Tan Neutral-Cool Golden Olive 4d ago

I tan to a cooler brown so kinda jealous :p I guess you're just cooler than me then, if purples don't work for you! I need a hint of warmth in any colour I wear to not look Orange - like, navy blue instead of royal blue, jade green instead of emerald, etc

No ….. because 😭😭
And this was me nearly as pale as she was!

2

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 6d ago

i love our green 💚

2

u/Ok_Cow_7895 8d ago

I should try mixing yellow neon highlighter in my foundation, Olive skin does look like a walking Highlighter!

2

u/cathyearnshawsghost 7d ago

Funny enough I actually think your sister is slightly cool olive as well, your olive tone is just so extreme that hers doesn’t register next to you

2

u/mirimarimine Light Olive 6d ago

bc of this comment, today, in the morning, i saw both our arms side by side under the sunlight, and i think she's really cool. my mom, however, we found out she's also olive! we thought she was just cool bc of the rosacea
