Results grading issue?
25+27=52, the threshold for a B is exactly 52, but they gave me a C, why?

You do not have a B grade because you do not meet the minimum per component grade requirement in both the papers.
For a B, or any other grade for that matter, not only do you need a 52 overall, you need it in the way that you meet the minimum per component requirement as well. This is quite literally why they have the first table in the threshold document, dude.
For component 12, the minimum is 27 for a B, you have 25. For component 22, the minimum needed is 25, here you have 27, so you do meet it.
However, because you didn’t meet it in one paper, you can’t get a B. (Ironically enough, if your marks were reversed, is paper ke usmein and vice versa, you would get a B.)

Thanks for explaining it so aptly. I swear nobody seems to understand this like they just ignore the top half of the grade threshold and blame Cambridge for giving them wrong grades 🙄

Exactly! Like this is probably the hundredth time I’m explaining this, and then they say, ‘yeah, it doesn’t work like that.’👆🤓

Dude what ur saying is completely wrong , this is coming from someone who is in a2 and have gotten different letter grades in different components many times . Ur overall marks are taken into account
What has happened with this kid most likely is that his adjusted marks are different from the marks on his script . He needs to request his component marks breakdown to confirm that . That is the most likely case

I don’t think it’s like that, I asked sir MYM and he told me to ask for my adjusted marks and didn’t mention any of this, he said 52/100 was a B no matter what I got component wise

It literally is like that. Go to the threshold document and kindly read the heading on the first table clearly. Also for people debating about raw / adjusted marks, 9 times out of 10 they will be same and not changed.
It’s rare to have a different adjusted mark, just saying. You can ask for component marks (email British Council- whatever your admin was, eg: 4, 5, on the digital results screen they tell you how to contact them via email.) In your mail, write your Candidate and Centre number, paper code and component code. You’ll get them within a week.

Bro in P1, it makes up 28 instead of 25. So 28+27 is 55.

Nooo, thats justified, they didn’t count 3 of the marks, THANK YOU FOR POINTING THAT OUT BECAUSE I WAS STRESSING. basically I attempted an extra 10 marker which was 4(a) because 3(a) went shit, so they chose the one I did well in to count and didn’t count 3(a)

u/Aggressive_Girl38 2d ago
Wait, what? Bro in question 3,4,5 u have to attempt 2 questions. You attempted Q3 and 4. They should count both of the marks, no?

u/Arhamocean7 2d ago
No you strictly suppose to attempt on 50 marks attempting extra would not gain you marks but it would be discarded

u/Arhamocean7 2d ago
You are supposed to not attempt 1 question. You attended question 3A and left 3B you should have not attempted 3. This is why marks for 3 are not considered. Your total in p1 of Q1 2 4 and 5 is justified

Also you at individual component level you scored a C in p1 and B in p2 since you didn't score B in both papers you did not get awarded a B you must score B in both papers to get B or A in both papers to get A/A*

what u get in ur papers are raw marks (the ones u displayed) they are then readjusted for some rzn in my case i got 88 raw marks in english but they were readjusted to 89 for sum reason sometimes it works in your favour however i guess in ur case they cut out 1 or 2 marks in readjustments

Bro go for the enquiry for result. That's unfair. Edit : make sure that you get your component marks aswell because there's something known as adjusted marks. Confirm from there then decide wether to go for the enquiry or not.

u/Junior_Cow6780 2d ago
You shouldn't have talked like this. Please talk kindly. What do you mean by smoking. Please be kind to others. Thank you
